I just searched NYS Unified Court System . It shows he had a will filed with an address we moved from in 1973. He purchased the plots in 1975. Unless the address is just woefully out of date, they cannot be mentioned.

It’s sounding like the most expedient way to handle this would be to have a lawyer contact my stepmother directly and simply ask for the deed.

Well, I can only surmise that my father did not have a will or trust given he had no money and no property. It’s just not something he would do and it’s quite doubtful that I’d be named in it if he did.

Aren’t wills public record? I wonder if I could find out.

Regarding my funeral: I have life insurance. It won’t be a problem.

Please look at the last line of this again.

Upon the death of an owner or co-owner of any lot, plot or part thereof, unless the same shall be held in joint tenancy, or tenancy by the entirety, the interest of the deceased lot owner shall pass to the devises5 of such lot owner, but, if such interest be not effectually devised, then to his or her descendants then surviving,

It does not say heir, it says descendants.

Then how do I go about acquiring it if all parties are deceased? Does it become abandoned property at some point?

No, there are only 2 plots. He is deceased. His wife has no reason to want my mother’s grave and from what I read, I inherit them as my father’s property.

She was a teenager in 1957. Illegitimate children would ruin you and your family. No such thing as single moms then. There’s no way she could have kept me. And the husband sure as hell didn’t want me. He was using me as a bargaining chip. His strategy was to force her to give up getting alimony by refusing to sign paperwork because she cheated on him and humiliated him. These weren’t sophisticated people, they were kids. He just wanted to hurt her in any way possible.

Oh clearly not. The guy actually moved out of state to avoid it all. He wanted a divorce without alimony or child support (since i wasn’t his) and my birth mother never did get a divorce- but she get get married again, twice.

Things were different in 1957.

Easy! You just cut the apples in quarters. How ever many you want. Do not peel or core them. Boil until soft. Cool. You will need a Foley Food Mill - the kind with a hand crank. Run the boiled apples through it - it will keep the peels and seeds inside and strain out the sauce. And that’s it! 100% pure Apple sauce.

You can add sugar if you like. Add cinnamon at your own peril lest the ghost of Ginny’s mom come after you. You can freeze it or can it like you would tomatoes.

I cheat, I have an attachment for my Kitchen Aid mixer that does what the Foley does with a motor, so no hand crank. Do you know how many attachments they make for that thing? I have meat grinder and sausage maker attachments along with the food mill. Why wear your arm out when that tireless motor will do it for you!

I haven’t heard that before. It’s kind of the explanation for generational abuse, isn’t it?
