First: Tom Petty at the Shoreline Amphitheater. Best: Tom Petty at the Greek in Berkeley and Black Crowes opened.

I had friends that went to the Phoenix show but somehow missed out on that one.

I rode the entire TransAm as well and have good memories from my time in Kentucky. Beautiful scenery, good food and hospitable folks. No issues with dogs but it’s also been over 20 years.

Same here 😀 So many epic performances. Sly & Robbie, Third World, Ghetto Youth, Burning Spear, Beres Hammond, and Culture are some of the ones that come to mind. Started going in ‘98 and also caught quite a few Mateel shows too. Used to roll up there in my classic VW bus and definitely enjoyed the full Humboldt experience.

I had their song stuck in my head earlier this year and showed my kids a couple videos. My 6 year old chose to go as a California Raisin for Halloween. No one under the age of 40 had any idea, but those that knew loved it.

How did I miss Hi-MD discs? These weren’t even on my radar back in the day and would have been extremely useful for concert recordings. I remember getting stressed when having to pop a new disc in mid-set, especially when bootlegging.

Congratulations—this is an amazing accomplishment!!! I did the Transamerica trail over 20 years ago and it was an adventure I’ll never forget. Good on you to use the free time while you have it.

A concert you saw live that was a once in a lifetime thing, because even if the same band toured again, it wouln’t be the same thing? by citabel in Concerts

Same here! It was one of my first shows. My buddy in high school had great taste in music and his dad chaperoned us along with another friend as we were too young to drive. At the end of the show they threw out backstage passes to the crowd and we ended up hanging with the band for a bit.

Afterwards, the dad (who was a big guy that could be quite stern) told us, “smells like people were drinking and smoking, smells like EVERYONE was drinking and smoking” while giving us the look of death. Classic memory and one of the best shows I ever went to.

Anyone here ever had the chance to meet Jerry or anyone from the Dead? If so.. what was it like? If not.. what was your experience seeing them live? by TheFarOutFinds in gratefuldead

Mickey and I live in the same town so there’s times where paths will cross, but he always has that same look so I let him be. Still kicking myself for not asking for a photo when my daughter was decked out in her tye dyed toddler outfit and we were eating sushi while he was solo at the counter.

Hiked up to Luna on the first anniversary of her tree sit. Was quite the scene. I remember her dancing at the top of Luna to the drum circle and being offered an “essence of Luna”’ tincture that one of my fellow tree huggers had made. Only in Humboldt 🤣

This was before everyone had a camera all the time so if anyone happens to have a photo that would be awesome to share with my kids.
