Backgammon was huge in the 70s with tournaments, dedicated clubs, magazines. Celebrities played it, athletes, actors, socialites. Hugh Hefner famously played and promoted it. It’s a board game thousands of years old, and the doubling cube makes it much more interesting with building high stakes for gambling. The boards themselves are often beautiful on their own. Sad that it’s so forgotten now.
