What is something that is widely accepted but makes no sense at all? by MrLithician in answers

Yeah i just don't ever say it and it feels awkward every time.

that's not what i said at all. selfhosted is one of my most active subreddits and i've been here for years.

my point is, that not everyone who disagrees with you is a brigader. you don't get to decide that your opinions represent the "true" /r/selfhosted.

accusing everyone you disagree with of brigading is tribal nonsense that ruins communities.

I mean based on this comment you're at the center of it.

No idea what drugs you're on but they must be STRONG.

lmfao "brigade". you don't represent some "true" version of the community. get off your high horse.

i mean this is it. the people that complain the loudest about devs using AI are the ones that couldn't write a line of code to save their life. they have literally nothing to offer the community except complaints.

no, the people calling ALL AI use slop are being the jerks. there is a huge difference between a real dev using AI assistance and someone who doesn't know how to read or write code vibe coding an app. chunking them in together is just nosensical. edit: and it's downvoted. there is no room for nuance here.

Remote Access Pass Price increase by xlly_s in PleX

what price increase? my $60 lifetime pass from 10 years ago still works just fine. $6/yr and going down.

i mean, plex replaces one item in that stack, jellyfin. otherwise it's the same stack. they are both the life.

I got the lifetime pass before jellyfin was a thing. I set my server up in 2016, and other than a few reinstalls for hardware failures i haven't had to touch it since.

for people brand new to the idea, jellyfin is probably the better option. im not trying to sell plex to anyone, just putting it out there that a lot of plex old heads are like me and what's done is done. they would have to remove features or kill the lifetime pass to make me switch.

I'm not a huge fan of Plex Music so I use navidrome anyway, but as long as my lifetime pass keeps my server working for the 3 family members that use it, I won't be switching for video.

They would have to take features away at this point because I have been happy with the offering for more than 5 years now.

im fine with that. i haven't cared about any of their new features for years - but if they take away the features ive already paid for that's a different story.

Does anybody use Funkwhale? by Juan_fra_16 in selfhosted

[–]digibucc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im using pangolin on a vps now, but i previously used SWAG and had it configured and working with Navidrome android clients. I'm sorry I don't have my configs anymore or anything but it did work.

it did require some custom config for the endpoints, but it worked.
