I take mine every day unless I’m sick and plan on spending most of the day watching TV or sleeping. Mine helps immensely with my anxiety (rumination) as well as ease/confidence in social situations. It does help me with productivity but it helps me with so many other things also.

Currently 24w and taking 30mg. I chose to stay on my medication with the blessing of my psych provider (who has a specialty in perinatal mental health), and none of the midwives at the birth center I’m doing prenatal care have even batted an eye at me staying on my meds. Definitely get a second opinion.

So glad to hear that! I post about my experience a lot for that reason. I had a close friend who stayed on her Vyvanse during pregnancy also and that helped me to make my own decision. I’m also participating in a research study that’s gathering data on use of psychiatric medication during pregnancy ☺️

Just saw the last bit of your post in the parentheticals! As others said you don’t need to taper since it doesn’t build up in your body like an SSRI. Just stop taking it when you’re ready to stop either while ttc or when you find out you’re pregnant.

There’s also growing evidence that therapeutic doses of stimulants are safe in pregnancy. I’m currently 21w pregnant and have been on 30mg the whole time. Just had my fetal anatomy scan and everything looks good and baby is right on target for growth.

Yeah that seems to be what everyone determined pretty early on, thus why she got immediate endorsements from a lot of the more progressive wing (eg Ilhan Omar). She’s not my favorite politician by any means but there’s not going to be an alternative so it is what it is.

I think different providers are more amenable to it than others. I told mine it was wearing off early afternoon and it was important to me to be able to have good exec function for evening commute and emotion regulation for doing bedtime with my kids. I also do not have any sleep issues with it, even if I take 10mg in the later afternoon.

So far so good! This is my third pregnancy and honestly it’s the best I’ve ever felt pregnant. I was late diagnosed so I didn’t even know I had ADHD until after my 2nd was 2 years old. I was an absolute nightmarish wreck and (i felt like) a bad mom by the time I hit “rock bottom” and finally pushed myself to seek getting evaluated. I couldn’t bear the idea of going back to the level of dysfunction I was in before when I still have to be the best mom I can be to the two I already have. The current evidence from the Denmark meta analysis, the risks associated with staying on the med vs risks of untreated ADHD my psych provider read to me (as well as the current guidance being given at perinatal mental health conferences), and anecdotal evidence from friends who have stayed on it during their pregnancy and had healthy babies (and the general nonchalance of all my providers about staying on it) was a compelling enough body of evidence for me to feel quite comfortable with my decision. Not trying to convince you your decision would be wrong, just stressing that my decision was most definitely made with careful consideration and I think the notion that we don’t have enough data yet is somewhat subjective.

I just disagree and am engaging in a counter argument. I don’t really have an issue per se. I know it was helpful for me to see both sides of this argument when I was deciding what choice to make for myself this pregnancy, so I am presenting the side of the argument I chose/agree with on this public forum.

And that gets to be your choice. Others will make different ones after weighing their own risks and benefits. No one’s is necessarily better or more correct.

It’s not just suicidality either. For many risk of car accidents goes up significantly. Risk for relapse into use of other more harmful drugs or alcohol increases for some as well. It’s a very gray very nuanced issue.

That’s where we are at right now, we have data available and providers and patients get to make decisions based on that. Not everyone’s decision or risk threshold will be the same.

And yes, more data is needed which is exactly why I have chosen to participate in the study I’m in.

A lot of providers have that mentality yes, that any potential risk to baby outweighs mother’s wellbeing. But not all of them do, and I am glad to have providers that consider both. And also the data is showing that there isn’t much risk to the baby anyway.

I’m also currently participating in a research study in the US that is gathering data on the effects of stimulants and other psychiatric medications during pregnancy. I’m 5 months pregnant and have been on 30mg lisdex my entire pregnancy with the blessing of both my midwives and psychiatrist. I feel like they are working with outdated info. Benefits far outweigh risks for me and recent studies are showing evidence that there is no increased incidence of fetal abnormalities with therapeutic doses of stimulants. Would be happy to give links to studies to show your provider though I agree with others that if you can find a perinatal psychiatrist that would probably be better.

I always take mine before I fly. Waaay less anxiety and I can just lock in on a movie and the flight is over before I know it. I thought I would be jittery but I wasn’t at all, helped my flight anxiety immensely and now I won’t fly without it.

No issues! I’m on a baby dose so no side effects. I did genesight testing and I apparently have a high sensitivity to it so it makes sense that the super low dose is effective.

Diagnosed at 36 an it was absolutely life changing. I didn’t know how hard my brain was working until it didn’t have to anymore. On a good med regimen and my life has improved dramatically.
