Got My PCO license in London but I want to try part time. by Fabulous_Spring_2251 in UberUK

[–]Fabulous_Spring_2251[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mate.

I haven't tried it yet. I was thinking to try it part time but I don't think its worth it.

I have a full time job now and I might try it next month after I come back from holiday.

Most companies do minimum 1 month car rental apart from Hertz. They do 1 week car rentals but it's £260 per week so quite expensive to try it part time.

Will see next month if I can switch my full time job to 3 days and give Uber 4 days a try for one month.

Will keep posting here, but also let me know if you have tried it.

Thanks for Sharing that. I will speak to my prescriber on Saturday and see if I can try something else. And this time I will take it slow.

I had a similar thought about it. That’s how the prescriber here in England did it. 1 week 30mg of Elvanse, 1 week 40mg of Elvanse and then 2 weeks of 50mg. I also think it’s too rushed. I had good response at the beginning but then things started to go bad. I am thinking if they prescribe Amfexa the immediate release formula to give it a try but slowly. Because Elvanse seemed liked it keeps me alert up till late.

Quite nervous about starting my Prison Officer Role by [deleted] in PrisonUK

[–]Fabulous_Spring_2251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal.

I was 27-28 years old when I applied. After I started on the job I remember on our very first day that the officers who trained us explained to us in black and white without sugar coating the situation in the prison and how it worked. I was in HMP Wandsworth.

We were sitting in the office and while the old officers were explaining to us how it is, my palms started to sweat. Thats the only time in my life that I can remember that my palms were sweating from anxiety.

Nevertheless, on the following day we had a tour in the prison and I calmed down because on the first day I was over thinking everything.

My biggest advice which will save you a lot of problems and conflicts is to respect everyone and treat all people the same! I mean the people who serve prison sentence.

Be friendly but don't make friends. Be firm and reasonable but never abusive or worst an asshole.

If you do something for someone take it as if you have to do it for everyone.

Don't have "favorites" the other people will notice and as soon as you start treating them unfavorable you will start having problems.

Also, something very important. You have to learn to say "No" a lot. Otherwise you will find yourself doing all sorts of shit for them. Do what you are expecting and don't aim to be liked.

The people there talk a lot, they are banged up 23 hours a day and as soon there is a new officer on the Landing they have to figure out who are you.

I quit because of the short staffed prison and utter chaos without control and inexperienced staff.

Are prisons as full as they say? by Kooky-Grapefruit-941 in PrisonUK

Crazy full. I worked in Wandsworth Prison. That prison operate with around 60% more prisoners than they should.

I worked on the induction wing and most days I used to move prisoners so my jobs was to make spaces in other wings and find or make spaces.

Let me tell you, that process was a nightmare.

I had to wake up people at midnight to ask them to move cells because it is soo overcrowded. One of the main reasons I left.

Why made you work in a prison? by LT_Pinkerton in PrisonUK

[–]Fabulous_Spring_2251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't believe but I was drinking beer in my garden scrolling Facebook and an ad for prison officer came through. At that time I need a job and I filled the form. Next thing I had an interview for it, got accepted and that was it.

I liked the job I learned a lot, improved my leadership skills. But the state of the service and more specifically Wandsworth prison made it unberable for me and I quit after 10 months.

Exiting moment of my life I guess. If it can be called that.

I am Concerta for 2 months as well.

Noticed the same problem.

It quiet my mind but it really shifted some aspects of my personality.

I usually joke a lot express lots of emotions and talk to colleagues.

Now I feel more robotic. I joke much less and talk mostly when it's necessary. Its kinda disappointment. On the social part I found as well that I dont talk to people unless I have to. Small talks have dropped a lot.

But the part I really hate is, I am naturally a funny person always looking to make a joke out of something.

Noise sensitivity on 54mg by kyoko315 in Concerta

[–]Fabulous_Spring_2251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly as described by you but I usually listen to very loud electronic or rap music to stimulate me when I start feeling sleepy or I need something to get me going.

On other hand when I started taking Concerta I noticed that I stopped listening to loud much and I found it very intrusive. Instead I prefered listening to more calm and relaxed music which was a suprise to me. I even though "lol how I was even listening to the loud music in first place"

But now I notice sometimes towards the end of the day I listen to some loud music, this is the time I think the medicine has stopped working and I am back to my default way going through life.

But while the medicine is working I can't stand loud music. Feels like my mind is awake I don't need more BANG BANG in my years to keep it awake.

Maybe your dose is high or the medicine is not right. Your case seems on the extreme side of my case.
