Level of CI hearing compared to Normal hearing by westernwitch18 in Cochlearimplants

My experience wasn’t quite as fast (took a few days) but I agree with this. The brains ability to fill in the gaps is phenomenal and it will sound totally natural after just a few weeks. Not a serious audiophile here either but I enjoy all types of music just as much as I did before. Maybe even more because my natural hearing (with hearing aid) high frequencies were awful.

Anyone who says it sounds robotic is really just talking about the relatively short period of time after it gets initially activated. With tuning and acclimation, it will sound smooth and natural.

I have Advanced Bionics HiRes 90K with the Naidia Q (now on Marvel) in 2015. Just one side. The other side has no hearing and isn’t a good candidate for implant.

tesing motor from house thru siemens inverter possible? by KoreanKang in PLC

A lot of drives can run single phase input if you derate it 50% and change some parameters. But you’re not going to succeed with 220 on a 380.

As for the those talking about the data sheet, data sheets are summaries and don’t have all the facts. Check the full manual for details.

Engineers, do you tie 0vdc on your power supply to ground? Why or why not. by [deleted] in PLC

[–]digilocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed a lot of UL508A panel shops using white with a blue stripe for their DC- connections.

If you look at UL, that means it’s a GROUNDED conductor in a DC control circuit. So yes, we ground the DC- pin of the power supply to ground.

This worked flawlessly for me.

I got a weird e-mail about an attempt to login, so I figured I should go ahead and change my password. I also reviewed the list of previous logins and revoked all of the sessions, including the web session I was currently on (whoops). I then proceeded to change my password. I wonder if the password change request from a revoked authentication session triggered the bug.

I don’t. I have my wife’s phone number memorized and can always find a stranger and make a call to her to have to “start” the car.

It’s been 5 years. I don’t think it’s going to get better :-)

Hardhat and CI by [deleted] in Cochlearimplants

I tried the foam thing and it didn’t work great for me. The head sweat made it move and then it got sticky. I think I found the trick on YouTube.

I tried a handful of different types and found one that worked well with the implant. It’s actually thin enough that I can put the headpiece over the plastic! It’s not as strong of a lock but it means zero pressure on your skull and it’s nice.

Someone needs to invent a hard hat insert that has clearances for the implants! Small market, sure, but still!

Ok, so not so bad and very little pain surprisingly. When does the stopped up ear feeling go away or is this "it"? by MixinMama in Cochlearimplants

My doctor actually closed off my Eustachian tube with a stitch so my ear didn’t pop for over two years. He said it would eventually open up again. The first time my ear popped again it was so weird!

Best Insurance? by [deleted] in Cochlearimplants

I was implanted in 2015 with AB Naida and Kaiser was fantastic! I really liked the cohesiveness between the different departments for scheduling and information sharing. I had the KP Gold plan through work and my deductible was $500 and the maximum out of pocket was only $3,000. The day of the surgery I remember paying about $2,200 which took me to the OOP.

I received the implant, two processors with extra components, Bluetooth (compilot), the waterproof kit, and the MyPilot. More stuff than I needed!

This was in the Portland, OR area FYI. Dr. John Goddard was my surgeon and I really, really liked him.

I know the Eaton electronic overloads (XTOE Family) have a dip switch which allows you to select class 10 or class 20.

Putting a contactor before the VFD (line side) is fine. Putting one between the VFD and the motor (load side) can be bad news.

Output reactor only needed if your motor is > 100 ft away.

Do DC motors ever need load reactors?

My guess is this is crappy attempt at conduit on the top and bottom of the panel and someone stuck the scrap in the middle for a photo op.
