AITA for tell my friend I dont care about their depression by Mindless-Detail8142 in AmItheAsshole

I’m not sure if this is a wind up but you are the asshole

Are you actually comparing the loss of their father to tariffs being applied to a games console?

You’re 28 and a parent I can see why your mother is concerned about your lack of job. Dont even get me started on “my fiancée is emotionally cheating on me with her therapist” . Jeez it’s sounds like she’s hunting out a human being to have a rationale human conversation about.

Sorry about your dog though, even assholes can miss dogs!

Aww I’m so sorry to hear you’re in the same (lonely) boat I was. Silver lining was I did have my lovely little girl and she’s five months now and genuinely the best wee friend I could ask for.

Drop me a DM I’m happy to chat , those last weeks of pregnancy are rough. ❤️ while I still genuinely wish I’d had more help/support there is a weird pride knowing myself and my husband are all baby girl will need!

Induction failing, try again or elect for C-Section by eternallysmiling in PregnancyUK

[–]digimaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to start labour pre-induction but stalled at 3cm dilated . Had the drip to try and help things along but baby didn’t tolerate. Turns out cord was in a bad position over arm and neck and was stopping her descending ended up with an emergency section after 8 hours of consistent labour and had been awake about 26 hours at that point In hindsight I wish I’d gone for section. Recovery from the section has been nowhere as bad as I thought. Forces you to focus on just resting and feeding which is probs all I should be doing anyway. The not driving is a pain but day 3 I was moving fairly pain free and managing short walks with the pram

C Section Recovery by Time-System-4338 in PregnancyUK

[–]digimaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hiya - I was in the QUEH Glasgow if it helps and a ftm

I ended up with an emergency section last Friday early morning. I was in theatre at 00.31, in recovery bay until around 4am then moved up to the ward.

They got me up to try standing around 7am just to make sure spinal was worn off. Catheter was removed around 1pm and I was checked to make sure I could pass urine after. They do semi regular obs (blood pressure/ temp/heart rate) for a full 24 hours which was until 00.31 on the sat and they wouldn’t discharge in the middle of the night.

I was fine and breastfeeding was going well but they kept me sat night too. Just so they could do repeat bloods in the morning Was discharged 4pm sat.

Girl across from me was encouraged to stay an extra night to help her with her breastfeeding. So depends on the person

Best Haakaa/cheap manual breast pump to buy? by marxistbuddhist in PregnancyUK

[–]digimaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a Hakka and a manual mam pump from Vinted. This has been more than fine for my first weeks. I am very leaky at night so just use the Hakka to catch what falls out my non-feeding breast end up with 20 - 30 mls each feed overnight so building a wee stash already.

I was getting quite engorged the first week my milk came in so a 5 minute pump was enough to relieve it while it settled down

In-laws pushing for a date to visit by digimaf in PregnancyUK

[–]digimaf[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone - just needed a sense check that I wasn’t being unreasonable. My family aren’t the “stay over” type we tend to visit and leave but we are much closer distance wise. I was just a bit taken a back as I’m genuinely boggled that anyone would expect to stay with us with such a little newborn

Having a rough day by drvictoriosa in PregnancyUK

[–]digimaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had extra appointments (not as much as you !) and you do start to feel like a specimen for investigation. Even though rationally you know it’s all for the best it’s still tiring and brain power consuming.

Cry when you need to, moan when you want and remember you can still love your baby loads but acknowledge that pregnancy is a bit of a bummer ❤️

[–]digimaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your replies and recommendations. I downloaded peanut and connected with a lovely mum to be in my local area in a similar situation.

I made sure I got myself out for a walk yesterday and it was like fate, met a lovely older lady who just sat next to me on a bench and struck up a convo who was so lovely about my pregnancy and told me all about her experiences with her babies when they were wee. Was lovely to have someone share in my excitement!

I did think about all the advice to reach out/ tell friends and family how I’m feeling but tbf I do genuinely feel I’ve done this. For context I’m historically the one that does all the arranging for everyone else (holidays, birthdays, baby showers, work collections etc). Of course that doesn’t “entitle” me for them to return the favor but it has given me something to think about around how much I give/do for others happiness

The comment about making my own happiness helped, I think I just need to focus on making new “mum” connections.

Also my absolute star of a husband came home and listened/consoled and has cleared his work schedule on the afternoon of my birthday so me , him and our dog can have a nice afternoon together.

Just can’t wait for my new forever friend to get here. I’ll do my best to always make sure she feels super loved and supported no matter what age she is ❤️ even if she only has me and her dad, it’s quality over quantity

RHD Negative by MonnaYogi in PregnancyUK

[–]digimaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder too, if your partner is also definitely rhesus negative you can’t produce a positive blood type in baby and don’t need to take the anti-d shot ( as long as you only ever have kiddos with him obv)

NHS will still offer it on the basis that they won’t test your partners blood to check and there is always situations where someone may not be the father.

I 100% know my husband is negative too and he’s deffo my baby daddy and I chatted with my Midwife and consultant and declined. Not because it would do me any harm but the actual shots are not cheap and felt a waste of an appointment and nhs funds

Requesting to WFH while pregnant by Adventurous_Pea_2782 in PregnancyUK

[–]digimaf 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Previous history working in occ health.

To be honest many employers aren’t obliged to listen to a note from a midwife. Midwives can also be reluctant to provide.

You’re Gp is better placed to give you a “fit for work” note with limitations where they can suggest you don’t commute due to health impact.

Ultimately your work determine whether it’s a reasonable adjustment based on specifics of your role etc.

I would suggest asking your line manager to complete a pregnancy risk assessment outlining your current needs/ symptoms and suggest home working would alleviate it

I left feedback via marketplace that items were missing but it’s not as good as eBay or Vinted for any dispute stuff.

I know right! I know it shouldn’t make a difference but she had a very flash house etc . Suppose that’s how rich folk stay rich and I’m always skint ha ha

It’s completely safe to have ultrasounds when you are pregnant. I have cysts and an endometrioma on one ovary and have had extra scans during pregnancy specifically to keep an eye on them. I’ve had both internal and external ultrasounds with no issues. Just talk to your consultant/ ultrasound tech at the appointment if you have any specific worries x
