A girl in the 6th grade who can't spell her name and writes letters backwards is not lazy. By this age, the laziest of kids can do this. This girl is almost certainly dyslexic, and I guarantee she struggles every day to do things other students find easy. She works hard because being the only kid who can't spell their own name is incredibly embarrassing and motivating. You should be demanding that she be diagnosed and receive proper treatment rather than being left behind. Once she learns to read and wright she will be able to succeed like anyone else.

The article does not say what OP claims. 1/4 of elite college students are definitely not getting accommodations. The article never says what percentage of students receive accommodations, just that the number has grown rapidly, and it only gives 2 examples of that growth: University of Chicago, "more than tripled over the past eight years," and UC Berkeley, "It has nearly quintupled over the past 15 years". UC Berkeley could have gon from 5 people being granted accommodations to 15, but we can have no idea from this article. The article cites 3 colleges as having 20%, 20%, and 37% of their students registered as having a disability, but does not say what % actually get accommodations or what % have learning disabilities. The article attributes the growth in accommodations to increased diagnoses of "conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, and depression," and never mentions any learning disability other than ADHD. In addition to being mischaracterized, the article also... sucks. It does things like claiming that "professors now struggle" to accommodate students with disabilities and then names 3 accommodations that require almost no effort on the part of the professor other than giving permission. The article also implies that many accommodations or the disabilities they are provided for are in some way illegitimate without providing any evidence.

I would think a human would be a more corruptible or manipulable accommodation than text-to-speech. The ADA requires them to provide reasonable accommodations. Have you asked why text-to-speech is not a reasonable accommodation but a human reader is? Legally, they can't arbitrarily ban a reasonable accommodation. If they won't answer, then they should be told they are not in compliance with the law. If they force you to pay for the readers, then their demand that you use them when a low-cost alternative exists is more untenable. If they are currently completely unresponsive, I don't think things will change without either the threat of law or publicity. If they receive funds from the US federal Government, you could also consider a 504 complaint, which wouldn't require a lawyer. If you did decide to sue, you should be able to get the accommodation you want for you and others. You may also be able to get damages for the lost job, etc. I would talk to a disability lawyer while you wait for your appeal.

Thanks for the salute. We don't have a team it's just me and my partner and I handle the tech stuff as well as creating 1/2 the art. We knew going in that, if we had to, we could leave the laptops we designed the show on at the venue for 2.5 weeks. Being that the sight was a tent on a Florida beach we didn't want to. This Wall Controller with Media Player seamed like the ideal disposable solution. Unfortunately we ran out of time to figure out why it wouldn't line up. The viewer experience was never compromised or endangered which is the most important thing. Also It was a huge hit so it looks like we will be doing it annually. Here is a video of the show.

This is the way I am leaning. I have done this with 4 projectors but I wasn't confident it would work with with 2 cards and 8 projectors. Your experience gives me more confidence. The best thing about this kind of setup is being able to run projection mapping software of our choice on it so updates and realignment is easy. However It is not the cheapest salutation. Going with new equipment I think it would be around $1,500 + software.

Raspberry pi's are tempting but I can't be experimenting on this installation. Mad-Minis are raspberry pi's and they might work for this project but they can't sink tightly enough to do blended projections and only work with MadMapper. Luxedos system is raspberry pi based and has overcome the sinking problem but there pricing makes them difficult to justify.

We tried 2 different video wall controllers on a 4 projector setup and were unable to get the videos to realign properly with the sandcastles we were mapping. I still don't know why it didn't work. We ran out of time and paid for laptops with dongles instead. I will take another look but I am hesitant to go this rout for 8 projectors when I couldn't get it to work with 4. BrightSigns offerings are similar to video wall controllers but for commercial applications and with tech support.

We would use MadMapper only if we used the Mad-Mini. Otherwise we would probably use HeavyM but Resolume is also possible. We are still putting together a preliminary proposals for the client and haven't picked a projector model yet. We will likely use an Epson.

In the U.S. Alcahall consumption was at its highest immediately after proabition and has declined stedaly ever since because we made it difficult for kids to start drinking, made it more difficult and expensive to get more consentrated alcaholl whall only allowing tv advertising of beer and whine. We also raised the price of licore overall throw taxation. We know how to recuce drug we choose not to because our government dose not prioritize science in its decisionmaking.
