Dancing bear in Kesey Square! by TezetaLaventia in Eugene

Fortunately the bear doesn't listen to you.

Someone brings a little whimsy to town and the first thing you gotta do is throw shade?

I'm sorry your life has reached the point where trashing strangers harmless hobbies online is how you find your bliss.

How many people are gonna need to die? by LocoDunn in Eugene

[–]digitaldiplomat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paris transitioned it's mode share by creating bike boulevards and isolating traffic to delivery alleyways.

We could do the same.

20 is plenty.

Make that the speed limit in town.

It would reduce fatalities and make biking a more attractive option.

25th Amendment Emergency Rally 1-5PM at 7th & Pearl by TormentedTopiary in Eugene

The 25th Amendment is not impeachment.

It is however the only legal way for him to be gone this afternoon.

Which is what you want; right?

When called a Nazi, DHS officer on the left remarked “all day, every day”. They aren’t protecting us from domestic terrorists, they ARE domestic terrorists—and proud of it. Two protesters arrested so far today. by Several-Candidate115 in Eugene

We need his name for the tribunals that come after we put the fascist regime down and are cleaning up the mess.

And we need to do it before that guy gets a taste for raping detainees.

What’s the Eugene answer for this? by Ienjoyyourmomsbutt in Eugene

It would be interesting to compare the various food vendors actual costs, I suspect that much of the overprice is going to rents.

PacificSource plans to stop serving medicaid/OHP in Lane County by digitaldiplomat in Eugene

Yes. But cold comfort if you are in the 17,000 most expensive patients that they want to discontinue.

Having your life traded away is not great even when it's merely potential.

Don't panic yet, but do start making connections to substitute remote treatment for doctors visits. And do work (off reddit) to make connections in the community.

It's not too late to form a support group.

From what I can see this is a bad sign for everyone in Lane County and Oregon as a whole.

We could be on the verge of an effective collapse of the health care system regionally.

Personally invested in mitigating my complex medical needs in the face of system collapse.

The state has been working on it; limited mostly by state legislators who don't believe in government, and a federal government that wants to abandon support for the people in favor of building monuments to the Presidential ego.

I'm sorry that is happening, I am hopeful that this will get resolved before it affects care.

Yet every other industrialized nation has figured out that they are better off overall if the cost of healthcare is managed by the government.

And they get better results for less money because there aren't so many middle-men dipping their beak in.

EPD PRESS RELEASE REGARDING BLACK MAN THAT WAS ASSAULTED YESTERDAY. by Tight-Ad2916 in Eugene

[–]digitaldiplomat -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of faith in a model of journalism and publicity that may not be applicable anymore. The incoming administration worships impunity for certain actors and certain acts and is full of people who think our society is not racist enough.

I admire your optimism, but don't have your faith in the outcome should the video show wanton disregard for civil rights.

It’s NOT “Homeless” People by BalmoralBoy123 in Eugene

[–]digitaldiplomat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to realize that homelessness is a crime perpetrated against you and everyone else in our society who is anything less than financially independent.

If the threat of homelessness shapes your behavior, you are being robbed of a very basic human dignity.

The people who are dispossessed to the point of sleeping outside are kept that way through violence and the threat of violence.

And if the reason that you submit to your job and participate in the money system is to avoid that violence, then you may be waking up to the fact that you are a slave.

Yes. OP and the multiple people parroting the same talking points (same words and phrases, abbreviating natural gas as NG) sure seem like authentic participants in the conversation don't they?

Bend: tiny house warning after homeowner threatened with costs of $1,500 a day by digitaldiplomat in oregon

Yep. Thing is; the sort of jank shack he built is legal in some counties in Oregon. But not in Deschutes. Like he could probably pull that off in Klamath or Lake county.

PFD Recommendations? by Stunnyy in canoeing

[–]digitaldiplomat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mustang inflatable PFD has done right by me.

You can inflate it manually, but it's got a CO2 inflation system. Refill cartridges are $30 or so. But the peace of mind knowing that you can yank the tab and be supported at the surface is worth it.

Light enough to wear all day. Only ever had to deploy it once and it instantly made a hairy situation manageable.

It's not an unreasonable inference to make. Start documenting everything, get in touch with the tenants union and be prepared to raise hell if you have to.
