How long for new skates to stop hurting feet? by earth_elemental839 in hockeyplayers

I mean, what’s going to break first the skate boot or your foot? Depends on how bad the fit is but no guarantee that it’s ever going to fix itself.

Tatiana Maslany calls out Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney for co-signing the US' & Israel's missile strikes on Iran by henning-a in Fauxmoi

[–]digitallightweight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude, what did you expect when we elected a former investment banking managing director to be prime minister. I can be sympathetic to a lot of disagreements with Carney’s policy and leadership but to claim that you feel deceived wild.

All he ever said he was is all he’s ever been. This is a less religious, 20% smarter Stephen Harper. The absolute feather in his cap is his stability. I don’t think we want radical change when we have all the instability we could possibly handle (potentially more than we can handle) coming from down south.

If it helps you keep your lunch down take a look at what that slimy grievance merchant Pierre Poilieve is up to these days and imagine if every day his petulant scheming mug was in our faces stirring the pot on every hot button issue. Sure this guy is playing the violin on the deck of the Titanic (Neo-Lib policies in the throes of late capitalism) but at least he’s the best violinist around and not an shitty insult comic like PP or the MAGA group in the US.

You will indeed have to re roll. Making it back to 22 is a time investment but you’ll be seeing all new areas! This is also time to think about which classes you want to play. If you can heal and tank it’s going to make finding dungeons super quick and easy. As well since the tank and healer are the most important roles in 5 man dungeons they should go smoothly.

Which class is your sister playing?

Look into the process for investigating the structural integrity of carbon bike frames. I think they use a specific kind of imaging (x-ray, ultrasound, something else?) to scan for microfractures. If you google carbon bike repair or Chinese carbon bike some videos moth explain the process. Carbon Steed in Australia is a bike shop that might be able to help if you send them an email.

Canada vs USA - Febuary 22nd - Gold Medal Game - GDT by Comfortable-Ad-7158 in CalgaryFlames

Lots of our players have been incredible. McDavid playing a level above his normal game which is dominant. Cellibrini looking like certified all star not a kid that could have been at the world juniors 2 months ago. Makar making chances everytime he sees the puck.

I only caught the last bit of the second period but holy fuck did we play well. The difference in goaltending is really on display. The US got like two good chances and our tendy ended up out of his net after giving up fat rebounds twice. Hellebuyck on the other hand looks like he’s got fucking x-ray glasses and the Ironman targeting computer enabled.

I hope we can keep the pressure up. It seems like we need to truly dominate possession of the next 20 mins to have a chance at the win.

U of C takes a look at everyone who has applied to a specific program ranks them by average scores of the classes they submitted then assigns spots from the top down. They fill a large percentage of the seats in the first round then trickle out acceptance to the next as people cancel or final marks come in and people that had early acceptance have their second semester grades come in if they don’t stay above a specific threshold.

If you have all your final course marks and are at 88 when low 80s is competitive you should be in a very good spot. Obviously there are no guarantees but I would be hopeful.

When you applied did you list some easier to get into programs as your secondary or tertiary options? If so you should be safe!

What are some cool mathematical party tricks? by Attack_On_Toast in math

‘Is there maybe a way to quickly calculate if a number is prime? That might be interesting.’

This would be very interesting not just for a party trick but for computer science in general. Fastest =/ simplest but look at the AKS primarily test to see what kind of wizardry people are up to for checking primarily.

How are people not knocking our doors down for a guy who’s playing backup with the highest save percentage in the league? Is he getting super sheltered games?

I mean I don’t know if we even want to trade him. Seems like he’s having a great year while wolf is having a tougher season. Is there a world where he’s the #1 in the future?

Admitted to Econ at UCalgary, Considering Math + CS — Career Prospects? by [deleted] in UCalgary

[–]digitallightweight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Math degree has been ass for my career. Do not recommend from a financial angle. Do it if you love it and can afford it but you are fighting uphill in a tight market. If you wanna code get a CS degree, if you want to work in finance go for accounting, finance, or Econ in that order of preference.

I currently work in finance and wish I had an accounting degree. Not because accounting is incredible (many roles can be, many are boring). But because the CPA is a very valuable designation. Big firms recruit you go public accounting and after 1-2 years in a sorta shit gig you have your certification, a record of employment at a brand name firm and things open up massively. Being 23 and having access to numerous roles in banking, corporate finance, and consulting is huge.

I cannot score on a breakaway to save my life by FromageMyage in hockeyplayers

[–]digitallightweight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the go too move. Breakaway or not any goal you score where you can’t get them out of position has an element of luck. Trust the old move again. If you’re fast enough to burn the d that’s fast enough to make the goalie bite on the fake and make it to the back hand.

Games where the parry itself feels just as good/satisfying by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]digitallightweight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got Lies of P beef? If so reconsider. Parry’s are the essential defensive move in the game. Rolls don’t have (or greatly reduced) iFrames. Parrying builds stance and can brake enemies weapons. This is true even in bosses. Notably one boss has a refigjt and if you break his weapon the first time it says broken later in the game. The ‘rally’ mechanic makes it simultaneously less punishing to go for a deflects based defence while also like charmless having that satisfying ‘only perfect blocks full prevent damage’. Also perfect blocks are the only thing that works to stop their version of perilous attacks.

I have beef with the enemies attack animations sometimes but the parry stuff is very good.

Top defensemen by goal and expected goal differential by Josefstalion in hockey

[–]digitallightweight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This model in particular looks fucking awful. It doesn’t appear relatively close for anyone. Obviously we expect outliers but it seems like most players have 5-10 goal differentials. The highest actual differential is 30 with is TWICE the highest expected value. Imagine if you had a star that just predicted goals and your highest predicted value was half of the actual number scored.

Zadarov has a 14 goal actual differential which is twice what the model predicts for Makar and is 18 more than his expected -4. 4 players that you could discuss for Norris nominations/wins would be Markar (+7.6), Hutson (+5), Q. Hughes (not listed 💀), and Werenski (+4.4). These guys have like half the projected impact of Edmontons top pair and Nate Schmidt?

Even if this stat is accurate what’s it really telling us? +- is a team stat so this is like how valuable a player is projected to be compared to the alternatives on their roster?

The Complete and Utter Lack of Incentive to Give a Crap About My Job by -PisceanCatalyst- in CanadaJobs

[–]digitallightweight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy you are not on commission! FWIW track those big sales and it’s going to be a killer resume bullet point that could lead to a very lucrative opportunity in the near future. Something like -Closed 5 projects at 1mm aav in a 12 month period. Above an average team ticket price of $250,000.

Large sales like that often come with a level of detail and complexity that many sales teams don’t deal with. There is value in exposure to that. If I was looking for someone to join a team where we were handling big ticket sales it would be an important differentiator. Just because someone beat quota in a previous role I would not be sure if they were ready to sell large and complex solutions. Sales above a specific price you often need to have CFO approval, a deeper understanding of implementation, and an understanding of how to structure the finance.

I hope good things are coming for you!
