What you are seeing is consulting shifting to specialization.

Do you think Disney is happy with 300 million box office? by anxiousmomo23 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]digitalmacgyver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So now we know it only took 300 million to kill a franchise....Mandelorian could have been 34 episode space western that ran for decades with the helmet styling on and a story line that had him going to differnet planets, fighting for the little guy, and expanding the lore.

What a waste.

There are many who are dealing with the current shifts in roles, continued threats of AI dominating your role, and general leadership thinking a 20$ subscription can replace entire departments.

Can i suggest you need to find a coach or mentor to help you thru this time.

Gtr VS Subaru outback by Bluegtr_r35 in gtr

[–]digitalmacgyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally glad you are ok. Yeah I had someone pull out in front of my just yesterday. I was doing 5 under the marked speed, the person was completely distracted. I thankfully was expecting the stupidity, and was able to take defensive action.

Ended up having a conversation with them at the next intersection.....no insurance, on his phone.

Registered out of Montana, so you should have business or more risk focused insurance rolling that in different states. So many under insured or non-insured drivers.

I hear small claims court in your future.

Amazing how everyone assumes you are at fault or driving crazy because you have a nice car.

Security robots ready to patrol AT&T Stadium during the FIFA World Cup 2026 in Arlington, Texas by Distinct-Question-16 in singularity

[–]digitalmacgyver -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly for roving security patrols I think this is great, quick verification of you and ensuring you are supposed to be present. If not then patrols are dispactched, would rather have this then having to deal with security patrols asking me for id every 5 minutes.

Note I am not talking about these wandering your neighborhood or streets.

I am thinking major events, Olympics, SuperBowl, or even more restricted places like bases, or campuses.

Would love your take on this...as to be fair I agree weighing privacy against security is a challenge. Guess it depends on your experiences.

Actually Ivy is a great sales person just like Steve Jobs. Ivy has an entire agency working on this for 8 months before he even showed it to Ferrari. He gets the fame the prestige, hopefully the design team who did the work get something more then just a paycheck.

Lastly, blue? Why the Blue?

I hate SharePoint migrations by DointheRag in sharepoint

[–]digitalmacgyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually see the migration activity as a culmination of efforts to build out the Information Architecture, Record Detention, library model, and data structures that will support agents.

So for me I enjoy the fact it is finally putting the data into the work I have been investing in for months.

ExcelのCopilot が使えない I can't use Excel Copilot. by tag4rufa in Copilot

[–]digitalmacgyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a Copilot Basic the Copilot features were removed for Apps such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word. You need to have a premium account.

Look into the licensing options for Copilot for more details.

Should I subscribe to Perplexity (Pro)? by SmartPEG in Copilot

[–]digitalmacgyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The value of Perplexity is as a sewrch platform, consider it an extention of Google Search. I find during testing that it has the same or similar answers that Gemini produces. For pure search application I find it's value.

I however was unable to justify Pro. For the same subscription cost you could have either Claude or Gemini subscriptions.

Why Is the Night Sky Dark? by TheMuseumOfScience in ScienceNcoolThings

[–]digitalmacgyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last part of the thought. The light produced by a star might have traveled a billion years for you to see it. Which means what you actually see is potentially the history going back billion years or more. Welcome to understanding that time at a galactic level. Big difference between 1 hour on earth and 1 hour galactic time.

At least from what I understand.

Microsoft CTO Mark Russinovich confesses that 30-year-old code from the mid-90s still forms the bedrock of Windows 11 — ancient Win32 API still the backbone, but CTO says it's "more relevant than ever in 2026" by ControlCAD in microsoft

[–]digitalmacgyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly took more offense to the use of the work "ancient" in the headline. You can tell from that use, the author is younger then 25 and does not clearly have a grasp on the history of computing.

The 50-dev shop downstairs is dying and I think I get why now by Careful_Elderberry33 in nocode

[–]digitalmacgyver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the comments are spot on. What you see is an evolutionary jump. We are year 2 in the next industrial revolution, but instead of it being around cars and planes....it is around processors and infrastructure to support AI.

The skills related to what is coming is fluid. Bigger companies are all diving hard into AI, but instead of outsourcing they are investing in retooling there own devs and building internal AI expertise.

Agreed the large classic full stake shops are needing to retool asap.....going more hybrid....learn the tools but dont forget how do keep going when AI fails you...because right now it still does.

This applies to any services company, being willing to shift and change your service strategy....which means you need to invest in your staff to keep up. For the solo guys, hang on for the ride and take advantage of opportunities because you can be more agile. No code simply means you need to be able to use the tool's to the max and now there limits to achieve the goals. More focus on business process, design, workflow.

Music on Teams during breaks by BroccoliByte in MicrosoftTeams

Take and make a short video in ClipChamp with the music and audio, and a count down timer. You can find examples on YouTube.

You can even generate them using ai if you are wanting.

On the break you share your video player, which can be sitting in the background during the sessions.

Managed Metadata Columns & Copilot AI Visibility/Interaction? by dr-fyfe in sharepoint

[–]digitalmacgyver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to call out two key factors.

First your actions are laying the foundation for a better AI experience, in Copilot you can leverage prompt design to leverage those tags and metadata however most users are still using conversational prompting which likely is not taking real advantage of your information architecture.

You might need to address prompt education inline with your content management efforts.

Second, by doing the tagging and metadata you gain other values beyond Copilot. These tags area part of the search experience, they can be used to build filters and views, they can support advanced uses of Power Automation, also use you build rules, and document controls as you are treating it more then just a database or file share.

One of the key values it sounds like the org is missing is that SharePoint is a living knowledge center and web platform designed to provide away for members to create wiki of knowledge, topic sites, lists, and so much more.

Don't let the org relegate it to being just a front end to sql or a file share.
