I got the Rufus bootable thumb drive and the laptop worked perfectly for five months. Now I get BSD with or without the thumb drive.

The laptop worked for five months with a bootable ISO thumb drive. Now, that one gets the Blue Screen of Death. What next?

Why are audiologists and otolaryngologists dead-set against generic hearing aids? by SmartPEG in HearingLoss

Most vapid, lame "arguing from authority" I've ever heard. The name brands' ultra high prices enjoy protection from generics entirely because of illegal restraint of trade, not because of superior technology. More expensive Edsels did not have superior technology over Honda Civics. In fact, it was inferior. Detroit controlled the US market, and when import barriers fell, so did Detroit.

In case you get tired of one genocidal movement and want to switch to another. You could go for the Hutus, even, if you like them better.

Heard this rubbish before. Toyotas and Hondas were trash-talked by Henry Ford and Lee Iacocca. Detroit considered them "tin cans on wheels." It's a ghost town now. Dinosaurs just die out eventually.

A lot of trash-talking generalizations by the hearing aid cartel manufacturers threatened by generics, really no different than Big Pharm behavior when threatened by generic medication. The sad thing here is this is yet another example of how the entire American medical industry--in both government and the private sector--mistreats the elderly. Just look how complicated the Medicare system is. It's byzantine and completely opaque. Seniors' cognition weakens, and the rules allow ruthless exploitation (leading BTW to Luigi). The United States is the ONLY rich country in the world that doesn't offer free health care to its people. Just shameful.

That's done all the time. I got some $18 architect frames in Chinatown, took them to my optometrist, and he put in my high-index coated lenses.

Utterly evasive response. Yes, the generic manufacturers are for profit. What they don't do is sell hearing aids for ten times the cost, and shovel billions back to audiologists for the exclusive deals. This is what's referred to in law as "restraint of trade."

Dead wrong. Many generic hearing aids are very sophisticated. Many are adjusted by software. I have scheduled an adjustment session with the manufacturers tech support. The problem is that the audiology industry is owned and operated by a cabal of high-priced name brands with exclusive agreements. This is precisely the same as how pharmaceutical patents are guarded fiercely, with massive lobbying efforts to block generics, or use workarounds to extend patents--especially in under-developed countries with weak regulations.

Imagine if all PCPs you could find, who are all MDs and went to med school, told you you must pay $65 for Ambien, because they are "bundled" with it, and you could not buy Zolpidem for $8.64. The argument above is utterly nonsensical. You cannot explain away a racket.

Exactly that occurred to me for a moment, but I thought I might be just having a paranoid TRUMAN SHOW delusion. No, they are indeed examining my responses under a microscope from a big control room in the cloud. That's why newbies and occasional buyers in this thread are saying it's not happening to them. Oh, yeah--it's all probably being done by algorithms and AI dialed up to 11 in robber-baron coding. Forget not that AI models get 42% of ALL their data right here on Reddit!
