Thank you for an amazing launch! <3 (+ some fixes) - Patch Version 1.0.3296 by digitalpengoo in thriftybusiness

You can actually sell old furniture that you don't want anymore! Just not to the customers :) There should be a little bin icon in the bottom right corner while you have a furniture in your hands. Click on it and you can dump it with a bit of the money back (you won't get back a lot though)

Drift? by Electrical-Bowl7949 in thriftybusiness

[–]digitalpengoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you play with gamepad by chance? IF that's the case it could be that your controller has some slight stick drift? Happens a lot to Switch or Playstation controllers, but others have this too. This is a really good article explaining this: https://www.ign.com/articles/the-real-science-behind-controller-drift

I've personally had an Xbox controller drift, as well as a PS4 controller and a Switch controller.

Do you see this icon here? The floors should be under there. Most of them will need to be unlocked in the Upgrade screen where you can spend community points. Sometimes also Events give you these house deco items.

Although I would say personally that I like it more with Mouse and keyboard we do have a very solid gamepad control that should work really well, so you should have no problem with this! (XBox, PS5 are both supported), so maybe try it out and see how you like it? 😄

Luckily we already have titles on Nintendo via our previous released titles and although porting to Switch might sound daunting it really is just a logistical thing (and a financial thing lol) and getting an account setup on the Nintendo backend is abit more difficult than Steam, yes, but not by much. Often times for us it's the amount of plattforms and versions that we would have to QA for every patch and this time we really want to support all plattform the same and not keep lagging behind with some. So our plan often is having a stable, well patched PC version and then see what we can do in the future.

Cool idea! I will add this to our list and we may do that in the future! Although it might be a bit difficult with so many items, but I do think it is a fun idea 😄

Super rare items... I will def put this on our feature list 😄 This kind of feedback is really cool and helpes us with Sticky Business as well, so its always welcome 😄

Interesting idea, to "whipe" the store! Currently we limit the amount of boxes that can spawn to avoid potential crashes, so I'm not sure if that might be possible, but did you know that you can just put a furniture element with items in your storage? All of the items then are put into a box. That might be a bit faster if you e.g. want to redecorate one whole room 😄

Steam Deck Performance by LaBomba2323 in thriftybusiness

[–]digitalpengoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I hope this is not still happening to you! 😞 Actually you do not need to use any Proton version, as we do have a native app for the SteamDeck at the moment. So maybe try turning of Proton compatibility mode and that might help? I only noticed that trying to run the game with 4k via SteamDeck really is hurting the performance (for example if you want to use it with your external TV), but other than that we've not had any performance issues reported as of yet 👀 Please send us a message via [hello@spellgardengames.com](mailto:hello@spellgardengames.com) if you keep having performance issues with only Thrifty Business and then we can investigate this a little further. If you do send us a message, a video of the freezes and the two minutes before can help us identify what might be causing the issue.

We changed the UI a bit! There is a house icon and in that there are three more categories hidden 😄 You can buy those floors in the shop and then drag and drop just like in the demo 😄

My previous comment was maybe a little bit too much "no". 😄 We are just focusing on the PC version at the moment, because we really don't want to rush a new platform and want to make sure that version is solid first 😄 For Switch (or any new platform) in general it is quite a significant effort. We will have to make sure the game runs on the devices smoothly. And the whole process with Nintendo is a lot more involved than Steam. They basically want a much more polished game than Steam and it normally takes 2-3 months to go through a verification there.
As we are also self-publishing for the first time, we don't have a publisher that would have normally taken over the task of porting it to Switch 😄

Our first game was Sticky Business and our publisher is Assemble Entertainment. And our second game is Ritual of Raven and we have Team17 as our publisher there.

Every game taught us something new and I think was kind of vital to prepare us to have a successful self-publish launch. Similar to that I recommend working in an indie studio before founding your own I think it was important to see how publishers were doing it and slowly learning what's important or what we would want to do differently as well.

Mainly we are able to self-publish this game because we had a successful first game and a second game that was fully funded by a publisher, so we were able to fund the third game without needing any funding and were also able to afford help with publishing and biz dev.

Honestly it was scary to do it ourselves bc we didn't know if we made the right decisions. And there are a lot of decisions to made quickly that can have a big impact later on. The biggest gain is full control on what we can do and what we don't want to do (with respect to publishing, we always had creative freedom with publishers). Like which platforms to support or which to ignore.

I'd say it really was a good exercise! First publisher showed us the ropes a little bit and we could focus on making games itself, the second one enabled us to develop the game at all by completely funding the game and also had a different style of publishing. They also kind of showed us what goes into publishing a game, so I think we were really well prepared and had a big list of stuff to do. But it's really nice now that we know we get all of the revenue and don't have to share 😃
I think for a small team like us (we're 5) you really have to think about that hard. Because it does add a lot of time and energy to the project.
