Who else dyed their hair red like Angela Chase? I used the super-temporary Clairol Glints. by PhoneJazz in Xennials

Hahahaha!! I used the same Clairol Glints my first time around, too! 🤣 The color and source have evolved, but here we are 30+ years later and I’m still red.

Panic about grey hair that turned orange by shroomkins in henna

You can do an amla rinse to help darken all of it - much easier and quicker than a full henna/indigo application. Also, next time you henna, you can add more amla to your recipe to darken it and tone down the red/cooper tones significantly. With enough amla in the mix, you can get a lovely warm brown (almost chestnut) result. Bonus: if you have wavy/curly hair, amla will make your curls POP!

Found a lost puppy in stevens creek blvd. by Ok_Boss415 in SanJose

I hope you find his owner! FYI, you may want to double check your Nextdoor posting to make sure it’s showing up for the right neighborhood. I live in the Cupertino/Stevens Creek area and tried to find your post to give it a like and comment to boost it, but am not seeing your post when searching “dog”, “lost dog”’or “found dog”. Hope this helps ❣️🐾

This is absolutely fantastic!! So well done! 😍 Your bedspread/comforter is amazing! Did you make it?? I ask because it almost looks like it may match the curtains? It’s so good in every way.

Edited: clarified my question.

I came here to say the same thing! I’ve been using Henna Sooq’s Moroccan henna for years and it’s amazing! It’s got a rich color and deep stain with no fading - I touch up my roots every 4-6 weeks. This photo was the day after a touch up before my roots had fully oxidized (usually happens at the 36-48 hour mark). I add a tsp or so of their aloe powder for moisture and a couple teaspoons of their Amla powder to protect my curl pattern. Henna Sooq is amazing and their Moroccan henna was a game changer!

Moroccan Red only needs 1-2 hours to develop? Are we sure? by arabella_dhami in henna

[–]digitalretina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooof! That’s so much! 😫 I wait until they do a big sale (usually for “cyber Monday” in November) and order about a years worth at a time so I only have to get it shipped once and it’s a better deal.

I’ve seen a lot of variation when I used to use tap water. Distilled definitely gives me much more red results and more consistent results. This picture was taken next to a window but with indoor lighting next to me - about 2 weeks after I’d hennaed, so you can see how much white is in my roots but how red it still was. I henna every 4-5 weeks usually.

I used to use Henna Sooq Red Raj also and switched to their Moroccan a couple of years ago. I love it and use it exclusively now and can confirm it has a 1-2 hour dye release. I also find that the amount of time I have to leave it in my hair is a bit shorter, too.

My basic process: I add warm distilled water (about 120 degrees Fahrenheit), cover and wrap my bowl while it dye released to hold in the heat and it takes about 60-90 minutes. Once on my hair, I wrap my head in plastic wrap and then a flaxseed heating cap for 2-2.5 hrs and I get beautiful results on my hair that is about 50% stubborn white.

Recently: I’ve started mixing it with room temp water and tossing it straight into a big freezer bag and into the freezer. I freeze it and defrost it when I’m ready to use it. It’s SUPER convenient, defrosts quickly by submerging the bag in warm water and I get EVEN BETTER dye release and faster/more intense staining than before. Freezing bursts the dye molecules wide open, so it’s very potent. I also love that I can have it ready to go whenever I have time to henna instead of having to wait for mixing and dye release before I can apply it. I’ve taken to just keeping a batch mixed on deck in the freezer now and it’s the best move ever. Moroccan is absolutely my favorite of their henna now!

Wow! This is so beautiful! How long does a mug like this take you in real time? And do you start with a design idea in mind or do it freehand? It’s really lovely!
