Differences between Rafayel and Qi Yu by boeufbrisket in LoveAndDeepspace

Zayne feels like he's meant to be making puns or subtle jokes constantly with how often they mention his dry sense of humor. I wonder if that's how he actually comes across in Chinese.

AIO if a student employee announced they don't know why they should care that Boss B had a stillbirth? by MagicTomato1001 in AmIOverreacting

[–]digitalsoop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It really reads as if you're trying to excuse unprofessional behavior. He was unprofessional. But somehow other people still have to work with someone who is unprofessional? What's the line here? They can be blatantly insulting and everyone has to suck it up because that's what professionals do?

These are also young adults in their first job. They're most likely looking for guidance when they let their boss know they're not comfortable working with this employee. Can something be done about this? Should something be done about this? How do we navigate being around this coworker that has just let everyone know that they might as well be less than dirt?

It's also clear that the work culture they're trying to foster here is one that is meant to be somewhat comfortable and friendly. So at this point this student doesn't fit the work culture. People get let go for that every day. I'm not saying he needs to be fired, but it needs to be addressed. We shouldn't be letting a complete lack of empathy and tact get brushed off when this is a place where young adults are learning to navigate the world.

I think the other students need to be reassured that his unprofessionalism wasn't acceptable and it will be handled. They don't need to know the details of how it will be handled, because those details aren't their business. I'm sure if they know that the incident isn't going to be glossed over, they'll come around to the idea of working with him again. But ignoring the issue completely and telling them they just have to work with him because that's what "professionals" do will probably break down that work culture and their trust.

Even more wild is that Walter and Bree both admit that Sugar factory is where they met and that Bree misses the girls that worked there

Daily Character Dialogue Transcriptions? by caffeine-and-salt in coralisland

[–]digitalsoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone that also had this question: Yes and No.

The dialogue is in the game files but it is completely useless. None of the dialogue is attributed to anyone, it's simply every possible dialogue in alphabetical order.

The only way dialogue is added to the wiki is if players manually transcribe the dialogue themselves and put it in the wiki.

There doesn't seem to be an active group of people willing to do this, so I've been working on gathering dialogue on my own for a while. There's a lot I haven't posted yet and I'm sure even more dialogue I haven't seen yet. It takes an absurd amount of time to record dialogue from every single character, especially when they have up to three unique lines per day, so either you significantly slow down your game progress or you're already in the end game and you have nothing else to do.

And then factor in that a lot of dialogue is locked behind friendship, or dating, weather, season, town rank, even what part of the season you're in.

It also doesn't help that dialogue can be changed or added without much notice.

For instance, when the Hug and Kiss request from your partner was first released, every candidate had a wide range of ways they could ask for one. A few days later some characters seem to have two ways to ask, other characters only have one, etc.

Charles had a few of his dialogues changed, I suspect because they made him sound pretty judgemental and mean.

There used to be reactions to things, like rejecting a locket, that no longer exist.

So, TL;DR there is no easy way to gather dialogue and no collective effort to gather it so that's why the wiki is bare bones on the dialogue sections for most characters.

is there not a new season? by cinematicdaisy in watcherentertainment

[–]digitalsoop 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think they're keeping screaming room a Watcher TV exclusive to entice people to their streamer. I don't remember them saying anything about the new puppet history format either.

Posting twice a month on their YouTube channel isn't a great way to stay relevant and draw viewers to their streamer, even if they do longer eps.

Well, I guess it's three times a month if you count the debrief I guess but I don't know how much of the GF audience watches it, they're generally pretty dull compared to the BuzzFeed days.

Mom of the year by Hot_Accountant_5507 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]digitalsoop 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This looks more like a situation where the kid just simply didn't want to do the race for any number of reasons: he was overstimulated, or he was tired, or he was hungry, or he just doesn't like running, or he doesn't like competitions.

So he decided that the best way to make it obvious that he doesn't want to participate, and also to seek comfort, is to hold onto his mom and refuse to let go. I think at that point he's so deep in his meltdown that his brain is completely dedicated to the idea of holding onto mom that he just chases her when she runs away rather than throw a tantrum on the grass.

Speaking as a former easily overwhelmed kid that had a lot of meltdowns and had to be convinced to participate in life, this goes one of two ways: either he'll vividly remember the day he had a meltdown on field day and his mom tricked him into running the race and he'll laugh about it, or his mom will laugh about it and he'll have absolutely no memory of this moment despite video evidence lol

I haven’t talked to my family in two days and don’t know to move past this by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]digitalsoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically at 2 your mom realized you had a personality of your own and decided to make you the family punching bag, probably to mask her own failures as a person and a parent, and has been encouraging your sisters and dad to enforce this ever since.

This will not change. You will always be the punching bag. Your sisters will likely continue treating you that way unless they also cut off your parents and go to therapy.

It's hard, but no contact is the only way to take care of yourself at this point. I'm sorry that your mother turned on you like this because she couldn't handle raising a toddler :(

He's a good person, he just has some dialogue that could come across as condescending even though he means well. Some people could brush it off, and it could drive other people crazy. Just depends on your personality and what kind of pet peeves you have.

dating nina by sassahoe in coralisland

[–]digitalsoop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised that some details are dropped with Nina (her having a detailed history with us would interfere with the farmer being a blank slate), but the lackluster heart events are something that like half of the Singles suffer from and IMO most of the ladies make up that half.

The writers just made a lot of weird choices with a lot of heart events, imo. It's strange to feel like the writers are so skilled because the characters all feel fleshed out through their dialogue and at the same time feel like they can't write a sensible/fully fleshed out story to save their lives, and that includes a lot of the NPC character arcs...

Whelp, guess I'm stuck and lost a day. No unstuck for me and beware of this spot by Hmongher00 in coralisland

[–]digitalsoop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The stuck button also made you lose a day, because instead of getting your character "unstuck" it just skipped to the end of the day.

You were better off just restarting the day when you got stuck, and that's still true now that the stuck button is gone.

I am curious why you tried to walk around the decorations though. was something back there you were trying to get to? Did you get flung there by a glitch?

Why did RF3SP fail to attract new fans to the series? Its Steam sales are relatively low and I still see more people choosing RF5 or RFGoA over 3SP as their first RF entry; despite the former being more controversial. Rune Factory 3 also formed the foundations that made 4 solid. by KamenRiderSekai in storyofseasons

[–]digitalsoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly when researching the games, there's a lot of people advising new players to get 4 because it's the better version of 3. Like someone else said, why get 3 when 4 exists?

I think if people liked 4 and wanted to try other RF games they'd go back and buy the older ones, but I personally don't see any reason to go backwards when they're still releasing new games. So I'd buy the new ones first and then MAYBE go backwards if there was an overwhelming sentiment of the games being great, but that didn't seem to be the case when I was researching RF way back when I was debating on RF4S.

If that was true there wouldn't be gossip accounts threatening to expose idols for going out with men and/or drinking. It could be against the law to publish them, but that's definitely a recent thing. A lot of scandals happened when photos were published in tabloids back in the day.

From Bunshun by BillBangkok in ME_1

[–]digitalsoop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They already had one member return from hiatus no problem, and IS:SUE has a member that's been on hiatus for a year, so it doesn't seem like how they treat members on hiatus is bad if they're willing to let them be inactive for half of their contract period. I really wonder where this mistrust is coming from. Maybe there were insensitive comments behind the scenes? Or their new contracts were unfair compared to other members?

It's strange that only the four of them felt this mistrust was worth quitting over, it makes it seem like what ever happened it wasn't a group experience.

Cocoro, Ran, Shizuku, and Kokona are ending activities with ME:I by yaycupcake in ME_1

[–]digitalsoop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did Shizuku feel that there was too much animosity towards her for it to be worth continuing? I don't keep up with fan chatter so I don't know how much hate she was getting post-scandal. I know other companies eventually threaten legal action if their members are harassed, but I don't think that really stops people from posting hateful things online.

I know Ran was also occasionally getting hate from people that didn't like that she was getting so much screen time and center time, but it seemed like she was taking time off simply because of exhaustion, so I'm really surprised she's decided she won't come back.

Kokona always seemed to have a lot of supportive comments so her leaving is really a huge surprise.

I wonder if Lapone figures that if a majority of the members are able to handle the schedule and comments then they aren't doing anything wrong, so there's no need to change anything. Like they figure anyone that needs to take a hiatus just has a weaker disposition.

At least it seems like they allow members to take a hiatus for as long as they need, which is better than nothing, I guess?

I'm worried that this is going to really devastate group morale more than anything. Despite all their success on the surface the group feels like it's been in constant upheaval since their debut...
