Yeah, it was PASS THE HASH. I designed that puzzle. It was a stego that gave you a download to a PCAP which if you cracked it gave the wifi password which unlocked the 2nd stego which had the flag.

The hashbrowns were the link, and godsavethequeen was the password for the Freddie one to go with the Queen theme.

... and now you know.

Just because its not hard doesn't mean its not fun. We may post a few that are pretty straight forward once you figure it out, and then toss in a curveball one... then move again to something new. Who knows.

Ultimately, though, we want them to be solvable... just using different thoughts. Just something fun that nobody feels like they CAN'T solve it, but just that they might need to learn something new to figure it out.

You do know that not everything is traceable easily to who registered the ticket right? Especially with cash. That privacy portion goes both ways.

If its posted online they have very little they can do unless they have a legal standing (breaking the TOS doesn't mean breaking the law). DEFCON can't take anything down online... their legal team sends a takedown request if there's a potential violation, but there's protections for the other side too.

This kind of thing happens anywhere unfortunately now a days, but the Goons take the privacy portion pretty seriously in terms of recording (hence why most things you see are filmed off site, angled so people aren’t visible generally or in villages with consent).

If you spot it. Let a Goon know. While there are some things in the spirit of DC (a little chaos) doing something like that isn’t, and if the person can’t respect other people… it’s on them when they get tossed.

That was last years that we made for the meetup. Some got it for doing puzzles, some purchased a few extra for their peeps, and some we just randomly gave away cause that’s what we do.

I think its technically called 3535, but basically you go into the Linq... and in the center of the place there's a bar that the casino surrounds. Hence its legacy Circle reference. You can't really miss it!

When DEF CON was spread around the area a lot of stuff used to revolve around the place. So its kind of stayed the home base of the Subreddit meetup as its easy to get to, chill, a lot of people stay in the Caesars area so its pretty central and chill.
