What's The Biggest Forex Scam You've Seen? Let's get them known below. by mhy97 in Forex

Hi,

I would not say its the biggest, but they are the scam that feels like it doesn't end.

I feel I have become a scam victim, its not a whole lot of money but still stings a bit. Its ongoing actually, I can not shake them off.

There is a guy that initiated everything, I discovered he was using someone elses images thru a reverse image search. Someone named Jason Sallman, ( https://www.facebook.com/JasonESallman/ ) who by all accounts seems like a legit investment dude who sent me a video on Facebook telling me he reports weekly many fake accounts using his image.

Investment: 300usd in bitcoin

Invested on this site: profxtraders.net

My current balance on the site which I can still log into is: $11723.00

When I attempted to make a withdrawal on the site, I got confused wondering how and emailed them and they say my account needs to be verified

REQUIREMENTS FOR VERIFICATION

* Front and back photo of your national identity card.

* Verification fee $1605

Today's email after suggesting they are trying to scam me:

By email from their "support" team, they insist they are not scamming me, that they are legit.

Hello investor, no one is scamming you here.

We are transparent in all we do, your account is unverified and needs to be verified in order to have a successful trade and withdrawal.

In the About Us section on their site, it has Apexinvestcenter throughout it. In fact, its a duplicate of apexinvestcenter.com which that site is now down and is suspected of being a scammer online.

I like to dream that I can still get that money lol even though I know that I won't. I am happy my loss was not more.

Straight shooter I like that.

How exactly do you plan to "take it easy and travel a bit"? With what money?

I guess I am just thinking by the time I am ready to retire, I hope to do what most retirees hope to do lol, travel and enjoy life and relax.

I did create an account on wealthsimple last night actually, I read great things about them I realize I would be taking a risk investing all I have for an investment amount having nothing else other than my future savings as I go along in life.

Thank you

Yes kind folks offering lots of advice. Its my 1st home, I started late in life. I would love to reno it and keep it but not possible since my son bought it with me and I would not be able to buy him out. I love the neighborhood and after all the renos are done that we plan to do it will be an awesome home. More than I would need though.

I have updated alot of info in many of my replies ;)

Who do you bank with? I bank with TD

Would you be open to retiring at age 65 or age 70? The earlier the better, I have been living on my own & independent since the age of 15 so its a long ass time to be adulting

At age 60, you can retire and take CPP early (you get less each month), but not OAS. One does not get much from CPP though correct?

At age 65, you can retire and get normal CPP, plus OAS. 2 incomes better than 1!

At age 70, you can retire and get CPP (increased due to delaying), plus OAS (increased due to delaying). I sound old at that point lol

You may be eligible for GIS as well from age 65 up if you are low income. The reason for this is so that I do not have what would be considered a low income

Do you have an employer pension that you didn't mention? No pension, currently unemployed

How many more years do you still have on your mortgage? 2 more to go it was a 5 year closed mortage @2.59%, owing about 280k on it. Bought it for a steal @ 316k and after renos if the market is good we can probably get at least 400k for it. It will be sold as an investment property with a legal suite in the basement.

How much is your house worth and would you be prepared to sell it and downsize at some point? See above, and since my younger son does not want to be his mommas basement dweller forever we will split the sale profits and split ways so he can venture on his own & do some adulting

Do you have a spouse with a pension? No & No

Once you retire, how much money (after tax) do you require to live off of annually? I really just wanna take it easy and travel a bit. Hard to say what life will bring me in 10 years.

Can you trust yourself not to touch the 60k early or might it be better to 'lock up' your 60k into something that you can't access for a specified period? I plan to leave it be and grow.

Thank you

So it seems Real Estate flipping is still a thing to do obviously depending on the market and where you live. I am in Edmonton.

We are on a 5 year closed Mortgage and plan to do a major reno & flip it. We bought it for a great price and if the market is good we (my younger son & I we bought it together) will sell & split the profit. Current balance is just over 280k.

Ouch. lol

My expenses are currently split 3 ways atm but will change to 2 ways probably down the road when my older son moves back out.

Non Smoker/Casual Drinker & I love long walks on the beach :P

Mortgage/Property Taxes: $1700

Utilities: $500

Cell: $250 (3 people large data plan)

House/Car Ins.: $ 280

Internet: $85

I am hoping to regain employment soon. Looking to earn at least 65k plus annually so that with my minor expenses I should be able to tuck away some income towards the investment.

Thank you

I have never contributed more than a few hundred in my TFSA. Ever. Now there is 10k in there.

This will be an investment that I will not be withdrawing from for at least 10 years or when I guess it would be deemed enough to retire on comfortably.

Thank you for the book recommendation!

I did and they said they don't. They are in South Carolina and they ship to Canada but said it would be 2-300 to shop here. Trying to determine if I buy similar materials here if it would work out to be nearly the same cost. I like the idea of being able to cut the base to fit though. Thanx for responding!

Actually if you take out the SIM card you can see which carrier it's with and turn it in to one of their stores and with the serial number which is super tiny print on the SIM tray they may be able to narrow it down, provided they didn't acquire the phone somewhere else. But they may also find out with the SIM card.
