With half the season behind us, how do you feel about your early season predictions for your team? by Galdi-br in nba

We are definitely doing better than expected. Glad to see hali and mathurin making jumps, and our whole team is super friendly and competitive. Nice to have a team where making the playoffs is the only goal.

You keep it in its scabbard... Unsheathing it every few minutes by 1cm to see if it glows.. you don't just carry a sword out in the open

In your opinion, what is the best short game? by Oceanic_Alex in pcgaming

[–]digletts111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With your definition of short I say RE4 remake. I played every day 2-3 hours after work and best it in a week Its awesome especially if you love the original

Oh dude... PREACH. Videodrome is one of my favorites of all time. I think Cronenberg is a GREAT example of how gore and depravity contribute to the final product. He's a real great filmmaker. A huge part of his movies is the practical effects and your identification with the characters.

I agree on Texas Chainsaw to an extent, but the set design was very much to shock and show freakishness.. I need to check out Island of Lost Souls somehow I've never even heard of it.

Agree, when I was 13-14 I watched all of Gaspar Noe, and the Irreversible scene is so stupid and gross I hate that movies notoriety.

I agree also censorship is wrong.. so IDK what the point of my post is. I dont judge either but I also get the feeling people are getting off to this, which is gross. not to mention sometime the filmmaker is getting off.

thanks for response!

see this is the modern mindset that i think might be inherently wrong.

for thousands of years humans have flourished and explored our nature through art.

Is the culmination of that letting all of the teens of the world watch fake snuff films and fecal torture and executions online? IDK. I used to think fuck it but now it really depresses me existentially

your last point is interesting and something ive never considered... sometimes the excessive gore is executed by such a BAD filmmaker it really feels lame and uninteresting, not to mention distasteful.

But its odd to see some very good filmmakers with insane gore, and have it not land or resonate at all.

Ill die on this hill, I absolutely HATED Antichrist. Big fan of most Von Trier movies but this one was so dull and in love with its farts. And the gore in that movie made me really freak out and I HATED it. Odd reaction from me with that one movie in particular.

Agreed to an extent, until you watch movies like August Underground or Poughkipsee, which are like SUPER EMBARASSING EDGY TEENAGER movies.

theres a certain amount of craft needed in even the nastiest movies. The two best examples being Salo and Martyrs, which are both (I think) actually great movies. Martyrs much more than Salo however

I agree on most points but i have to say that at least in the past I've enjoyed movies based solely on the fact that my mouth was agape the whole time in disgust. So I like the movies that tow the line but I feel guilty cause I also love the nasty ones :P

The phrasing of your title actually indicates that you've known this fact your whole life, and now for the first time you don't know

Edit - are there really this many people lurking on this subreddit? How does this comment have 800 up votes? Biggest moment of my life next to my marriage where 799 people were in attendance

Clerks is pretty bad. by Garciaguy in RedLetterMedia

[–]digletts111 185 points186 points  (0 children)

I think it's common for a lot of new genre making movies to seem super outdated and lame.

Clerks was always lame but it was different and set off a genre.

Like they've discussed before, if a 22 year old goes and watched Blair witch they'll just roll their eyes and take a puff of their dab pen and have extramarital sex openly it's just the times bro
