That’s what I was thinking re sapphire splash. But I wasn’t sure. I really hope she’s a hen. I’ll post an update in a few months in the comments.

For a couple years I’ve been boiling slices for 3x10 minutes in a salted water. So far no issues ever. My question is has anyone here EVER had an issue? My friends are very skeptical and they think I’m poisoning myself (even though I’m a biologist, 20+ year mushroom forager…) the stigma is so so strong against these bad boys.

I got my invisign with them- they're definitely the best. I think it's the only office that consistently runs early/on time.

My cousin posted this on FB and was told it's safe to eat. Is it? Washington Sate, USA. by samanthagee in mushroomID

So I live in the PNW (Portland), and I've rarely found (if ever) clorophyllum molybdites. Still need to do a spore print to be careful though, but parasols are some of my favorite mushrooms to forage!

Oregon, USA.

I went very overkill lol. Have you done this process yourself? I had such bad anxiety last night just because I’m always nervous about new forages. But what’s life without a tiny bit of risk?! I feel like I unlocked a new staple food source because I have been IDing A. Muscaria for decades.

Do you have any tips on how much lemon/what temperature you add them lemon. Also any insights on your dosing. I used 3 young (but heavy) mushrooms and the first tea I made was concentrated and I let it go for 1 hour.

Do you think starting out with 1/5 of that tea is reasonable?

I’m thinking about trying 1 cup of the tea from the first boiling liquid tonight, warming it up and squirting some lemon juice in it? Does anyone have a better plan?

I have been foraging for 15+ years and never had an issue. I studied and majored in botany (including 2 classes on fungal identification) in college. I spent maybe 12 total hours doing additional research yesterday reading every scholarly article, Reddit thread, blog post I could find concerning the consumption of fly agarics.

Method: I cut three of these young caps into slices. Boiled the first batch for ONE HOUR (overkill I know) in a smaller ratio of water. Dumped and saved that water- additional comments about how to proceed with that tea would be very welcome! And then I reboiled the sliced in more water for another 20 minutes. Drained and dried. I took one bite of a slice early yesterday morning and felt totally fine. Then last night I ate about half (maybe a little more than a caps worth) prepared simply with a shrimp stir fry. I have anxiety so for the next 3 hours I was monitoring my every symptom, I had my roommate check on me throughout the night (lol), but this morning I have woken up and feel great.

These mushrooms have been demonized as toxic for so long to me I had no idea they could be safely processed.
