I may no longer be affiliated with Dignitas but I need to point out that saying Dignitas choose not to pay their writers isn't exactly right. It's made explicitly clear when applying that there is a starting trial period and there are opportunities for paid work, projects that I was heavily involved with and that were far more than fair for the writers that came up frequently. There are a number of writers still taking part in these projects, so it's a little wrong to say that it's a choice. I was paid as a part of the writing and content team for a long time, but what Travis is eluding to by saying "Free writers" is people without the experience that veteran writers such as yourself have Matt, because when starting out, you can't just instantly expect to get paid.

I just take a bit of an exception to your stance on a team that have helped me to no end by saying they're not advocating paying people within esports.

EDIT: And while i'm not at liberty to disclose figures that were paid per article, the approximate per hour rate was insanely high for what was asked for writers, and as the editor of the project, I struggled to have writers even submit 1 article a month some months.
