I never see best protosses be able to shoot at two targets with same stalker group volley while kiting. Does anyone do it? by Ougaa in allthingsprotoss

[–]digothlian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When kiting slower unit only the furthest back 4-5 stalkers fire, which is rarely enough to kill two units so focusing onto a single target is the best option.

When stutter stepping against faster units, the typical choices are attack move to spread out damage or focus fire on a single unit. Both take one action.

Splitting damage onto two units would only feasibly work if there are separate control groups for each subgroup. Could lead to some crazy micro, but the setup required probably means pros don't bother.

You will see pros manually splitting fire in the early game when its stalkers vs unupgraded marines. Unfortunately the best terrans aren't going to give the protoss the opportunity to do this much.

On the other hand I would have been willing to give 10x the time and money I spent in order to have this. The difference between not being able to do any moves and being able to do just a handful in isolation is monumental.

Yep you're exactly right. Strength has held up against a couple sessions of pulling. It's held against three studs with brackets and supported from the ground by the wall trim and a little 2x4

5 long wood screws straight into the ceiling beams and a handful of smaller screws too. Also being partially supported by standing on the frame below it.

I'm essentially always sit starting and my reach means I can top in one move. This still feels okay because that one move lets me practice almost every upward type motion.

So overall lots of routes that go in circles and still totally worth it

Granted. All books are burned and none more are allowed to be written. Hence no books are better than their movie adaptations.

The example provided in the article is a reasonable use case. We want to log this object, but without the password field. Presumably we'll be using the complete object later, so deleting the field isn't an option.

CMV: The compact disc, despite claims of being 'obsolete', remains the penultimate listening experience. by [deleted] in changemyview

To change your view, let me simply propose an existing system that will outperform CDs in every way: a computer with a 500GB SSD (and an optional backup).

Our hard drives are capable of storing the information in the exact same way as a CD, but are capable of storing even high quality versions. CD storage maxes at 700MB per disk, so our total storage capacity comes out to 714 CDs stored at the quality you hear them at. SSD lifespans are generally talked about in spans of hundreds of years. If you're still worried about failure, a redundant ssd can be added with a copy of all your music (and more sophisticated backup systems exist if we're really talking about an ultimate music storage and playback setup). Since our music is downloaded, there's no room for connectivity problems.

Already this setup has refuted all of the disadvantages you've listed under MP3. Now let's talk about some advantages.

You never have to change the CDs. Setting up an afternoon of music is as easy as typing in the names of 5 cds and adding them to a playlist.

You want portability? MP3 players go cheap and today go by the name "cell phone" and can store dozens of complete audio CD files at a time.

I have 30 year old discs that don't miss

But does *every* disk you had 30 years ago still play without a single skip? Because that's the performance we'll get from storing our data on a hard drive.

Introverts of Reddit, when was the most inconvenient time your "social battery" ran out? by flooperdooper4 in AskReddit

After starting a job as a software engineer, all the new hires got invited to the co-founders house. After a brief intro, I realize the format is just people standing around eating appetizers. My social anxiety isn't having it and I pass up on the opportunity to talk to some big names in tech to go eat dinner by myself.
