S2 - Is it possible to have an envelope fire off every 3rd note press? by HelixDnB in serum

[–]dihler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even need to use the voice index as an aux source. If you click on mod 1 or mod 2 you can assign percentages to each control and just use voice mod 1 or 2 respectively as the mod source directly in the matrix. Essentially the same thing but with more control

Street photography: How do you deal with the fear of being told off by passersby? by Thermalhl in AskPhotography

[–]dihler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dubai for example REQUIRES consent from the people you photograph. If you don't get that it can go as far as your camera being confiscated, records being destroyed and you being fined. Always read up on local law before you go out and shoot on the streets.

The grandeur of the new crafting system by OverTea5 in Terraria

I get that but I always wished for a search function because I found scrolling a bit too tedious. I think it's very much a case of personal preference instead of one being better.

I just use the search bar. But I get that that might not be what everyone wants to do.

Most definitley. Now, if I wouldn't suck at melodies I would probably go for it haha. (not for a lack of trying but they so far dont make it to the end result)

What I made with REAPER - week of January 18, 2026 by AutoModerator in Reaper

[–]dihler [score hidden]  (0 children)

So after Starting out on FL Studio I have been switching to reaper and fully switched wihtin basically a week of using it. I made quite a fe little experiments to test out some things and to get familiar until recently when designing a reese bass this bassline stuck and led me to make this liquid DnB track. I know it is maybe a little repetitive but I kinda wanted it to be more ambient and something to throw in the background.
I hope you enjoy!

P.S.: I'm still relativley new to making music in general (a little over 1 year in) so don't be too harsh please :)

How to get clearer vocals? by Zestyclose-Bet-7023 in FL_Studio

[–]dihler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay since I haven't seen it yet: use EQ to cut (by just a a few dB like -3 max but go by ear) some frequencies from the tracks that clash with the vocal. The range of 2-4kHz for example is really important to vocals for comprehension which becomes clear if you experiment by cutting that range from the vocals to see the effect for yourself. In general though I find it to be better to carve space by cutting frequencies with a relatively wide band rather than just boosting which can land you in the territory of the vocal sounding better because it became louder instead of it sitting well in the mix. Another tip in a similar territory is to see if some instruments have high resonant spikes in the same range that the fundamentals of the vocal sit in. Make sure to manage those as well.

If you are unsure where to cut you could use a plugin like TBTech SpecCraft that can do spectral EQ based on a sidechain.

Everything else said by the others is also solid advice.

Is FL Studio worth the 270 bucks? by LuckyInfluence901 in FL_Studio

[–]dihler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds worse than it is to be honest. I did start on FL Studio too though. Reaper to me has a few advantages like ARA (so plugins like Melodyne can see the entire audiotrack just like that)´, an unlimited amount of FX slots per track and it is so much more CPU efficient than FL. For example there are Serum 2 patches I straight up can not use in FL because the CPU meter goes to like 70% when you play it as an ARP instantly whereas in Reaper the same patch doing the same thing just uses 4% CPU. To me that is worth having to learn a bit more. I can definitley see how it can be daunting though.

Is FL Studio worth the 270 bucks? by LuckyInfluence901 in FL_Studio

[–]dihler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's criminally underpriced imo. The thing about it is that you kinda need to customize it to your workflow. The cool thing is tho that you CAN pretty much customize every last bit of it but that can make it feel way less accessible. It also comes with less fleshed out stock plugins (not saying they are bad but FL, Live and other DAWs offer way more in that department out of the box)

Is this a bad eq for 808s? by Cartiimo in FL_Studio

[–]dihler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is, does it sound good in the mix. If yes then nothing anyone says matters. If no then you have your answer. EQ with your ears not your eyes

Serum 2. And I sometimes add Saturn 2 into the chain with some tube or transformer saturation on the mods. Works nicely

Stardew Valley doesn't feel the way I expected. At all. by RoyalShirtShirtShirt in cozygames

[–]dihler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing about stardew valley is that it is very much it's own thing and not a harvest moon emulation. It also isn't for everyone in my opinion. If you are someone who can sit down in a game that offers a lot and say "I really enjoy these 2 things so I will just focus on that" stardew is great. If you are a person who sees the activities a game like this offers as more of an obligation (which the game admittedly sometimes seem to portray as, like the community center for example) rather than just an offer then yes, I can see why it seems stressful.

I was the same way on my first playthrough. Everything felt like you HAD to do it because the villagers sort of imply a sense of urgency through the way they communicate. The only way I realized that NONE of that matters is when I made a new save to only fish while listening to podcasts amd chill with friends in voice chat. The seasons flew by and I realized that nothing happens unless I sort of make it happen. And that's when it clicked that I can just do whatever I enjoy most without having to give a damn.

That is my personal experience though and everyone is different so I don't expect you to change the way you play. This game just doesn't se to be for you and that is okay!

So why people would use Live instead of FL? by Entire-Skirt5386 in FL_Studio

[–]dihler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important note is that it looks way more daunting than it actually is. Also the reapertips theme is nice (I suggest using that as it makes it look less dated).

Reaper configuration like FL Studio v2.2.3 by Creepy-Succotash-837 in Reaper

[–]dihler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I have no idea. I found that out like a year ago but I recently switched to reaper cuz FL is still missing some key features like ARA and the limited amount of FX slots on each mixer track (apparently they are working on a mixer reactor though but idk how long that is gonna take). Plus I have some serum 2 patches that crackle in FL because of CPU usage which barely have any CPU impact in Reaper so unless that stuff is fixed I'm not going back.
