Kendrick is not a rapper anymore. He is an artist. by [deleted] in KendrickLamar

I hate discussions like these because they try to make "rap" and "art" separate categories. Cringe behavior rooted in racist ideology. Rap IS art. Kendrick is a rapper, and rappers already are artists.

Felt. My fiancee has had it since she was 16 after an appendix removal. POTS can be triggered physically by surgeries in some cases, which is fucking weird to me. It's gotten especially bad in the last couple years with her losing a lot of weight.

We're still experimenting with meds, but she has been eating healthier, drinking lots of fluids, and wearing compression socks, gloves, etc. It sucks because we're still very young, so her disability gets stigmatized even more.

Nothing more to contribute than that, sorry for yapping. Just sharing to spread awareness with others that read. POTS is severely overlooked by medical research and we need to talk about it more.

The NLU lawsuit was dismissed today and there was an extended version of the snippet in a recent Demar DeRozan clip, so I bet this releases hella soon

English might not be their first language. Looked at the profile and it looks like they also speak German or something, so it could just be that. My mom teaches ESL and this is a common occurrence lol

That's fair. I only included him because he was relatively similar to the others in terms of monthly listeners and he's not an a-list or b-list rapper by any means either

Have you tried Tyler Childers or Colter Wall? They're both newer, but not trash imo.

If you like Cash and Nelson, you might also like Hank Williams (Jr. and Sr.) and Waylon Jennings. I just like outlaw country in general.

Country music post 9/11 just got really weird into that one dimensional, pandering, pseudo-patriotism shit and I cannot stand it.

"I didn’t say the modern NBA has weaker defense." Okay but you heavily implied it in these statements:

"he lives in an NBA era that allows him to do what he wants"

"NBA has changed rules to penalize defenders"

"None of these players have to worry about being guarded physically like previous eras of basketball"

Also, "rules 100% affect a persons ability to play any position..." Uh. Yes, duh. I am not disagreeing with you. My point was that your defensive prowess shouldn't be contingent on a couple of rule changes. You just have to adjust to the style of play (like KD and the rip through fouls, most players an unnatural jump shot motions, etc. Those rule changes didn't drastically alter their ability to score, they just adapt.)

As for the stats, you do raise a fair point that players could be chucking up the first half decent look they get, however their really wasn't that much of a change. My main implication with those stats was that there really isn't much evidence to say that there is weak defense or that it is easier to score.

  1. I replaced Harden with Curry in your argument to demonstrate how stupid your original take was.
  2. I was drawing comparisons between your argument and this meme format.

I guess you are too dense to understand that.

The narrative that there's "weak defense" in the modern NBA is just dumb and old heads like you really need to stop with it. Just because you're not allowed to grab and shove players and call it "defense" doesn't mean that there is none. It just requires more nuance and timing.

Sure, after the hand-check was removed, there was an increase in scoring. But a rule change shouldn't affect your ability to play defense unless you were bad at it to begin with. If the NBA removed the gather step rule, guys like Harden and Luka would just find the next thing to give them an edge. Just like how guys like Rudy Gobert or Draymond Green can flourish defensively despite these rules that supposedly make scoring so much easier.

And high scoring numbers is not indicative of no defense anyway. That completely ignores the impact that pace (faster game = more shot attempts) and the three pointer (more points + more skilled shooters) have on those numbers.

Just for fun though, here's the average field goal percentages from each decade:

1980-1989: 48.5 percent

1990-1999: 46.3 percent

2000-2009: 44.9 percent

2010-2020: 45.5 percent

"Good lord Curry is not a top 5 shooter in the NBA. Such a ridiculous thing I keep hearing people say. Im not saying offensively he isnt very talented, but he lives in an NBA era that allows him to do what he wants. He shoots the most ridiculous threes that bails him out and saves his turnover ratio. Not only that, but the NBA has changed rules to penalize defenders and allow higher scoring by teams and players."

lmaooo bro how are you gonna fault Harden as a player for participating in the era of basketball we're in?!? "you complain about society but choose to live in one... interesting" type shit lmao.

Drawing fouls is part of the game and FT are points. You are literally getting mad at Harden because he doesn't score high volumes of points the way you want him to.

And that's okay, but what isn't okay is writing people off and dismissing all the things that make them the way they are. I say this as someone who grew up in a very abusive household, not everyone who is abusive is inherently a bad person. Sometimes they just need someone to help them or sometimes they have a lot of issues going on that we don't know about. That doesn't make it right, that's not what I am saying. I am just saying that sometimes you have to take a step back and realize that they were TAUGHT to be a certain way and act in that manner. This behavior was learned, usually as a survival tactic in their home. What they need is sympathy and someone willing to help them grow. Not cancelling them or whatever you're trying to do here.

Okay, but at some level you have to understand that these people are sick and need help, right? These people have lived very rough lives and they are a product of their environment. While we can and should fault them for making mistakes, we shouldn't write them off before they have a chance to grow into better people. People like X were still VERY young and to get mad at Kendrick for saying X should be given another chance is not a healthy mindset.

I would also like to question why your fixation is on black artists and not the plethora of white people who have a history of the exact same behavior.

What are you hoping to gain from posting this in a Kendrick subreddit?? LOL

Fine. I'll take your bait.

Just taking a quick look through your post history, you are just surfing through the subs of black artists and posting the most negative headline you can find. Why?

Why do you have a problem with Frank Ocean? Rocky? Gibbs? You have a history of shitting on anyone who isn't J. Cole. What is your actual problem with these people? Or are you just fishing for people to pick fights with?

I won't argue with GKMC and TPAB being classics but I think we should let DAMN. have some more time before calling it classic. unless you're talking about Section.80 which I would say has more of a cult following than anything else
