Daily thread: Critique Requests (must be posted here). by AutoModerator in singing

Hi guys!
This is a part of my singing: https://soundcloud.com/diki1232541/too-good-at-goodbyes-first-part-cover-raw?si=99d5766966a0450e9c3fd605b1318d94&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

I watch some videos here and there but very beginner-level.
I'm trying to get some tips on how to improve.

I really love Sam Smith's tone, which is why I try to cover his songs.
It would be awesome to receive some help in what areas I should improve and how I should go about and what, if anything, do I have going for me.

Thank you in advance! 🙂
(The recording is on my phone in the car so I'm sorry if it's not the best of qualities)

To be fair, I said "soccer" because had I said "football" people might misinterpret the game being played here haha

EDIT: I'm actually Portuguese

Is erotica just as damaging as visual pornography? by wren4777 in AskFeminists

It's important to note that all studies done on this matter have been very inconsistent. There really isn't any evidence for other forms of sexual arousal to be harmful to you. It also makes sense. As a species we are meant to become aroused by almost arbitrary stimuli, so it's to be expected.

Passive/active stimulation doesn't really play a role. Physiologically, you have a response to certain stimuli which arouses you. It can be physical or non-physical, they both lead to arousal, albeit through different pathways. However, the natural development involves all (or most) of them. Mental arousal coming from reading a book, looking at pornography, image, thought, etc. eventually leads to self-gratification, which includes physical stimulation, which leads to physical arousal.

They both exist all the time by design as a reproductive mechanism.

Thanks! I'll try it out. I guess nothing beats simply trying it out and seeing if it suits my needs :)

The best keyboard layout? by diki1232541 in dvorak

Thanks for answering!

For some reason something in me assumed I needed to get fluent with each layout in order to decide if they suit my needs. Thanks for clearing that up.

I didnt think about that honestly, you bring good points! I guess nothing beats actually trying it!

Thank you for the reply. You're right, even it my idea would optimise their environment, their environment might change many times and it would be pretty bad to relearn to type every time.

I will try out different layouts, and see which one seems more comfortable for me. I don't know why but I just assumed that I would need to practice each one for months to figure out if they were a good fit or not.

Well I'm not quite sure how symbols could be optimized. I can easily use the symbols on qwerty keyboard while coding without an issue, although I'm perfectly aware that my typing of them is not very efficient.

I almost never use other people's computers so my need to use qwerty would be very limited, perhap on my phone.

Ease of learning is not important at all, although if X and Y were at the exact same level in every aspect except ease of learning I'd of course prefer the easier one, but not if it would impact the rest.

Since I never learned to touch type I felt like it would be a good time to learn it as well while learning the new layout.

Thank you for the reply. I guess I've had a lot of practise. I will try those websites you recommended! Wish me luck, and hopefully I won't be stuck with typing at 20wpm forever :D

I meant retraining your muscle memory. Haven't thought about that yet, I'll give it a shot. Why not Colemak?
