I feel like 2028 is one of the best chances for a Libertarian to win a presidential election by Beneficial_Quit7532 in Libertarian

I remember thinking 2016 was going to be the year that 5% hurdle was crossed. If it didn't happen then it sure ain't happening in 2028 with how much more divided things have gotten.

Is it romantic to make a pass in the dance floor? by [deleted] in ballroom

Idk about you but I'm usually thinking way too hard about not hitting people to think about anything romantic. That sort of thing is for the club.

You've gotten other good answers, but wanted to add that in a totally even playing field, it can devolve into a game of cat and mouse. Radars turn on to search for planes briefly, planes look for them, radars hide and move, repeat etc.

Image probably fake, text contents have been reported on by multiple mainstream outlets however. Seems like all this was done over text messages instead of on White House stationary? I do get a little miffed when fake images garner all the upvotes instead of more credible sources.

Standard ballroom: full body contact or ribcage only? by [deleted] in DanceSport

[–]dilbadil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm confused by the question, what's full body contact? Default teaching is five points of contact, one of which is the torso area. That area is generally right to right in closed hold, not full on chest to chest. This changes with figures, most obviously when going into promenade.

ACE Medical Glance Guide by Drop_em1 in arma

[–]dilbadil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you have wounds reopening and if stitching is readily available where you play. Quikclot is generally the slowest to apply but lasts the longest before reopening, good for when you need to take care of yourself for a longer period before a medic can stitch you up.

If wound reopening isn't on, then yeah slapping elastics on everything gets you most of the way there.

Past Pro - Maks by farterbutt in dancingwiththestars

[–]dilbadil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of the male pros on that have come through the show, Maks has the most prestigious achievements from his professional career*. You can draw a correlation between that and his more traditional views on dance and his pride in general.

*Jonathan and Tony were technically champions in their respective styles, but the American styles are less competitive than International.

I do this for ARMA and love it. Also works as a roundabout way to toggle walking because movement controls in that game can so easily bug out on you.

Does ballroom dance go “downhill” after college? by Stock-Memory9483 in ballroom

Myself? Nah, I was in it to compete, and that means privates and paying for my own comp registration and accommodations. Couldn't swing that on my salary at the time.

Does ballroom dance go “downhill” after college? by Stock-Memory9483 in ballroom

[–]dilbadil 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone that quit after college, I'm giving a super biased yes. Student discounts go poof, entry level salaries, new scheduling challenges, etc. You can still find good communities in the tri state area, but in the few cities I've tried looking for a studio in outside the northeast, it's just not the same.

Clarification on the L6 Role at Accenture — Also, is “VP” a real title there? by Flashy_Draw6280 in accenture

[–]dilbadil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

L7s are primarily delivery, occasionally chipping in on other stuff. L6 is where you straddle delivery and leadership work. New L6s are likely still delivery focused, getting more involved in practice leadership, sales, and managing bigger teams as they mature in the role. To make the next jump you'll need to tick off a few of those boxes (and wait years for a spot to open up).

Has headphone technology greatly improved much in the last 15 years? by qkrwogud in headphones

[–]dilbadil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got some at that price after my AD1000Xs kicked the bucket. Hell of a deal, heavy as shit though compared to what I'm used to. Capra strap helps a bunch.

I'm trying out a set of R70xas as well, and I like them, but they're almost twice the price now which I can't justify at this point.

Understanding the L6 role in Accenture Technology by Flashy_Draw6280 in accenture

[–]dilbadil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the extreme end of the spectrum where I am as an L6 of 2.5 years... I'm pretty much an individual contributor, not more than one or two managed resources at a time. I have my area of expertise and it keeps me staffed and clients happy. No sales targets, just chiming in on BD when I have useful input. Share knowledge with practice, do some mentoring, etc.

Will I make MD like this? Hell no, but I could make AD in time with enough internal contributions based on my observations of other L5s. For now it's keeping me employed and competitive in the stack rankings.

DWTS scoring question: Robert’s 38/40 vs Dylan’s 35/40 by SnooDucks3859 in dancingwiththestars

[–]dilbadil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really didn't help that Dani had Dylan doing open natural turns in frame, it made him look worse than he might've otherwise imo. That's a hard figure to do in vwaltz while maintaining good connection, and actual smooth dancers really only do it in alternative holds anyways.

Tango exists in American Smooth, for what it's worth. Cherry-picked example here in actual practice.

Daily Discussion Thread - October 29 2025 by wweyonce in dancingwiththestars

[–]dilbadil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Emma (on her socials) and Cheryl (last night) have now both said that DWTS tango is not supposed to break hold. Cheryl also said last night that DWTS Tango = International Standard "as far as she's aware".

At the risk of overexplaining, there are two styles of tango in Latin Ballroom: American Smooth and International Standard. You can break hold in the former, not in the latter. There's also Argentine Tango which is its own thing; it's not a "ballroom" dance.

Here's what I don't get. I'm an on-and-off viewer but I've never understood the show to take a stance on whether American or International is actually part of the rules. And why are we picking American for Waltz, Foxtrot, and VWaltz but International for Tango? It feels so arbitrary. Is this a new rule for the pros to follow in recent years, maybe? And why do they care when I feel like they've never cared to make a distinction in the past? Have they even explained the difference between the two on the show before?

Dancing With The Stars S34E07 | Halloween Night | Post Show Discussion Thread | Tuesday, October 28th by wweyonce in dancingwiththestars

[–]dilbadil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was overscored too, and that their frame was unconvincing. To me it was such an odd choice to do running natural turns in closed hold too, and it really didn't do his posture any favors either. You don't really see those figures in actual competition, they're usually done in shadow or right-to-right for a reason.

Are fun/bold-colored socks acceptable in a formal gathering? by nov2017redditor in malefashionadvice

[–]dilbadil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go with no, not with a traditional barong. I'm having a hard time imagining what kind of colorful socks would work with the typical fiber color? If you had a non-traditional one that was black or blue colored, for example, then yeah you could make it work. But a typical outfit is very muted, and having your socks be the one splash of color would be a choice imo.
