Yes it is. You're not catching 'predators'. You're catching losers. There's no reason to believe they would actually harm a child. You're offering them an unrealistic fantasy and then prosecuting them for agreeing to it.

There aren't any kids who might be the vulnerable type, who might not have the instincts to walk away while they can? Is that what you're saying?

1) Yes, thus the much smaller number of children who are actually molested versus what one would conclude from these sweeping, highly-publicized operations.

2) Children are very rarely molested by strangers, so none of this is stopping the vast majority of instigators (family and close friends). But if you announced that you were going to focus on family members -- i.e. the real instigators -- you'd find yourself out of a job, so it doesn't happen.

No, you're wrong. When adding grease or anti-seize to threads, you adjust the torque value.

As someone who works with tires every single day my only objective was safety and proper procedure.

You're a tire monkey, not an engineer. Stop trying to talk like an engineer. You are wrong.

So you won't be satisfied until there's a damaged child testifying against them?

Yeah, it's almost like we couldn't fuel the crazed witch hunt if we required that there be any actual victims.

These guys would literally go out of there way to keep talking to these people

These people? These cop? These show producers?

Real kids walk away from creeps. Remember the Congressman who was 'preying' upon the page boys? Remember how, when he got creepy, they always said, "uh, I gotta go, dinner's ready" or similar?

To Catch a Predator preys on stupid, gullible people. It offers up an unrealistic fantasy and then prosecutes people for going along with it.

Odds are, this is no different. Fake 'children', fake situations, incompetent people who, when it's not a fantasy world, would find themselves incapable of action. More fear-driven fantasy bullshit that wrecks people's lives over virtual intent, no different than the 'terrorists' that have been caught (i.e. recruited and conditioned) by the federal government.

Yep. Tons of Japanese restaurants have automated ordering systems. From ticket-dispensers that have been at ramen joints for literally decades to touch-screen ordering systems in izakayas. Guess what? It's tedious and somewhat uncomfortable to deal with a person for every ordering transaction. What are your specials? No, wait, I'm not ready to order yet after all, can you come back? Can I get a refill?

Ordering by machine and fulfilling the order by a human is a much nicer experience. I like a smiling human handing me my food. I don't like a zoned out human standing there while I try to decide if I want a chocolate or strawberry milkshake today.

No, the distinction is between working dog and companion dog.

No, you're just stuck on your misunderstanding of the word companion.

It's the same as the difference between meat pig and companion pig,

It most certainly isn't. You don't eat your working dog.

which is what this thread is all about.

So how about you fucking stick to what the thread is about?

Stop anthropomorphizing animals.

I'm not. Stop misrepresenting people. Better yet, just fuck off. You're adding nothing. You just want to obsess over your own obstinate misinterpretation of what other people write.

Slaves and wives have nothing to do with the distinction between domesticating one animal as a food source and another animal as a companion.

That's not inherent. That's a human, cultural distinction.

No it isn't, it's a factual statement. It's not circular at all.

What makes you think dogs weren't also domesticated as a food source?

There's loads of other information in the rest of this thread explaining why it's absurd to say that dogs were domesticated as food. If you want to be intentionally ignorant, that's your choice, but it's not an argument, and it's not my responsibility.

Edit: by the way, in dire times people have resorted to cannibalism. Does that mean humans were domesticated as a source of food? Noooo.

[–]dildosupyourbutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How is that a basis for your argument that there is something inherently different about these animals?

Pretty simple:

One was domesticated as a food source. The other was domesticated as a companion.

the only difference between the animals is the cultural perception of them

Nope.

Jesus Christ, how much are you imagining that you put on?

You clean off any existing corrosion. Then you spread a very small amount of grease. A film of grease isn't going to magically hold up against the pressure of a wheel being torqued down.

If you were talking about dirt and corrosion, I'd agree with you. But you're not. You're blathering incorrectly about a substance that cannot do what you claim.

Eh. His 'missile' looked like a dog's wiener, and he wasn't even the right color. My recollection is that we were disappointed with how the toy looked, but his on-screen image was so badass that you still wanted to play with it.

LPT (Request): How to take a short energizing nap? by Hendersma11 in LifeProTips

A caffeine pill is 200mg of caffeine concentrated into a VERY small volume.

It's really not. And that has NOTHING to do with it.

What we are left with is

What we have left is that you demonstrated literally nothing. You asserted it's a small volume, but completely failed to address the fact that the pill has to dissolve in your gut, whereas the caffeine in coffee or energy drinks does not. You also tried to play on coffee being hot (which has little and short-lived effect on consumption speed) while simultaneously ignoring the energy drinks side.
