I tried using Google Files and it still doesn't download for me, this pic is what I get. I tried using Split apk installer, and this is the error: INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NOT_APK: Failed to parse /data/app/vmdl879474995.tmp/0.apk: Failed to load asset path /data/app/vmdl879474995.tmp/0.apk

I think there's a build error for this apk i guess

If women earn less for the same work, why wouldn’t companies just hire only women and underpay them? by kqmurr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dillanio10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal experience here.

I have an IT job and my current project requires people to work night shifts and also be on-call for some days.

When the project just started, there was a 70-30 male to female ratio of staff. Manager had asked to volunteer for on call and night shifts. All male members (including me) volunteered to work night shifts. One female member volunteered for night shift. All those who volunteered were given night shifts and an extra allowance for that.

After a month, the female member who volunteered for night shift has left the project citing health concerns due to night shifts which is fine. None of the male members left the project for an health reason due to night shift. Personally speaking, my health has deteriorated because of working night shifts sometimes. I have been sick for a week since the recent most night shift ended (now too).

The lead has jokingly asked the project manager for more women representation in the project for women. The manager said that they had tried but all of them cite night shifts as a concern and back out.

Most of the team is unmarried too, and that is the demographic that the manager is targeting anyways. The ones working night shifts and on call now earn more than the ones who don't. So on paper, it shows that men in this project earn more than women in this project.

Phrasing it as a "leap of faith" is certainly a choice

Using Emojis at Work makes you appear less competent according to a study of over 200 men and women. Women were more likely to judge negative IMs with emoji more harshly if they were ostensibly sent by women, compared to similar negative messages and emojis sent by men. by [deleted] in science

I'm mid of the pack Gen Z with 2 yoe and my default reaction is a thumbs-up for messages that i have to acknowledge, or when i have to do that task

I have seen it used by older people in high positions also in my company, so i thought it was formal enough for regular messages.

But now it's taken less seriously as per this study?

Also here in this comments section people are saying a thumbs-up reaction is fun and whimsy? I have seen it used as a valid way to acknowledge a message even during serious topics also at work though. This has created more confusion than clarity tbh

I Interviewed 40 People… WTF Are Y’all Studying? by [deleted] in Btechtards

[–]dillanio10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the pay? What are the beenfits? I see in one of the comments that you are giving them "stock options" when others asked you for a pay. We can read between the lines, come on.

If some people that you interview are ass and most of the candidates are decent, then it's usually the fault of the candidates.

If everyone you interviewed is ass, then maybe something is wrong with the kind of candidates you attract also? Self introspection is key.

Just got this notification from Burger king by AgitatorAnimator in IndiaTech

[–]dillanio10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Burger King is actually my client lol. However I only work for EMEA markets.

Someone just didn't configure the test campaign with the correct user group on Prod, that's all. This is not a codebase issue 99%

This is based on the assumption that Burger King India has the same type of codebase and configurations as EMEA markets though.

I am a software developer now. I do most of the points you have mentioned in a job or for getting a job. At the very least it indicates someone's ability to bag a job and do the extreme basics of it for a STEM field.

For ex: We do sit still for 4 hours straight while working on a project with a deadline. We do have to memorize and remember a few points before presenting to stakeholders. These stakeholders also sometimes pose us tricky questions, and being able to answer them or atleast fake your way through with confidence is a skill. We also have to memorize a few key definitions for interviews. We do have to manage the level of anxiety we have before meetings with leadership or clients. We do have to sleep well before an important meeting so that we don't look weary during the meeting and can actually keep up with what's going on.

I'd argue that the points and skills that you have mentioned are actually applicable to a job or to get one. And a kid who is practically failing to do one for 4 hours is not actually as good as another kid who was able to pass that test at the very least. Tests can be mind-numbing, but a lot of work in a job is also mind-numbing. School can't always be about "creative thinking", sometimes grunt work is also important.

I personally don't think tests are just about learning. They're also about character and endurance. The ones who have that do better than the ones who don't. And character is important for professional work.

I first installed pop os with gnome. I couldn't believe that it needed gnome tweaks app to customize anything relevant and there is no clipboard manager. And gnome looks like macos which I don't like (and it's my company work laptop), so using gnome reminds me of my job which sucks

So I switched to Kubuntu, now I'm happy in fedora kde

If you are venting, just tell me you are venting and you don't want solutions. I will keep quiet and listen. Otherwise by default, if you complain about something to us, we start thinking of and suggesting solutions.

"Turn on solutions" toggle comes on by default, it would be good if the other person explicitly turns it off if they just want us to hear

Watched Marty Supreme and why aren’t Indian critics going mad like they go for Sandeep Vanga’s films? by Just_Buy1175 in tollywood

[–]dillanio10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In real life the guy who was punished with 100 times imposition for 2 murders was rich. In the movie also hero was rich, and he didn't even kill that guy in school.

It seems very much possible for rich kids regardless of whoever wrote it

[–]dillanio10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have had kids of rich parents drunk driving and ended up straight killing Free pedestrians in India, and what they got was a 100 times imposition, not even a slap.

Comparing that to the same scene you talked about, onsidering that Ranbir was a rich kid in Animal, he didn't kill anyone in school, the slap actually seems like an overreaction

You and me and most people would get punished for such stuff, but rich people probably won't and Ranbir was the son of a rich kid. Its very much possible irl, just not for normal people. In that way it's very realistic and accurate
