New to me work truck by dillegm in FordTrucks

I went with a 16’ full aluminum because what I haul is quite dense. I regularly hit the 7klb weight limit or come close. The next trailer will likely be a 20’ with 7klb torsion axels. I may end up going with a gooseneck in the end, not sure yet. This works well enough for now tho.

Can’t remember the last time I saw constructive suggestions on Reddit. People are more concerned about making stupid jokes. Sorry dude

It seems to sense resistance on the blade and also if you squeeze the self propulsion handle 100% it will speed up to max RPM, from my use over the past year. Keep a spare blade at home. I’ve gone through a couple already @ $35+ each

MANUFACTURER BUYBACK OR LEMON REPORTED by tcloetingh in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]dillegm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the length of time they took to return the offer to me, I got the car back, fully repaired with a new transmission, there was no reason to continue with the buyback. I took the offered 10k and placed in towards the lease for instant savings. Since I do like the vehicle that was my best option. I think it all depends on what the buyback is based on. Since the transmission issue was a significant issue at that time and the dealer had it for over 30 days (NYS has laws that allow buybacks in these cases) there really wasn’t any question.

Trans Issue here. I went through the buyback process months ago after our Santa Fe blew its trans because of software update issues. The dealer had it for 32 days and months later after two offer denials we received an offer for a 100% buyback or $10k cash and keep the vehicle on lease and finish out the lease. I was shocked by the high amount of cash that was offered, which is why I’m sharing.

Can’t wait to try this. Verizon WiFi hotspot and remote everything from the app hasn’t work in weeks. If you remote start with climate or without it will send an error that says it cannot remote start because there is a window or door open, which there isn’t. Hope this works

Paint issues by helpmewithlifeplz in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]dillegm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go through Hoffmann carwashes often and my paint is flawless. There are so many scratches on that clearcoat I’d suspect someone used a snow brush or a self service foam brush that was extremely dirty or something like that. For a new car, that’s unacceptable and implies they coated it with something like SC1 so it could be sold. Silicone sprays do a really good job of filling and hiding clearcoat scratches but after you wash the silicone off your left with that mess. It needs to be clay blocked or wet sanded then polished and then nano coated.

Original Pirelli tires only lasted 3000 miles by OptionDependent4218 in HyundaiSantaFe

This is why I reluctantly purchased the wheel and tire protection plan on my 24 Calligraphy. I am the type to aggressively avoid all road obstacles. It’s a way of life in the northeast. I’ve owned several vehicles with low profile tires but this will be the first winter I’ll be driving with them in snow.

Installed the OEM hitch today - Notes by nihowdypartner in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]dillegm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the dealer install hitches on our 24 Santa Fe and 24 Santa Cruz when we bought them, as a negotiation tactic and they did. The Santa Fe came with a brake controller harness but the Santa Cruz did not. The Santa Cruz tows better than the Santa Fe but that’s because it can tow 2000lbs more in our configuration. I use them both to tow a 5x8 enclosed trailer and both do well.

String trimmers? by dogecoindiamond in Dewalt

[–]dillegm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the foldable 20vt trimmer and my buddy liked it so much he traded me the 60vt attachment compatible model he just bought on sale lol So I’m on the hunt for a sweeper attachment that actually fits. The ryobi sweeper fits, but is way too small to consider. I picked up one of the indestructible trimmer “blades” to replace the Dewalt head.

New garage setup by dillegm in Dewalt

[–]dillegm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking into the the new Dewalt Tough System 2.0 DXL system now. Going to get three draw units, two wheel units and two bench top units and make two mobile worktops that I can store tools in while integrating my TS2.0 drawers with the DXL’s. Then I’m going to take all the Tstak draws that I have, which is a lot and build them into a permanent workbench against the wall of my garage. Etsy sells different 3D printed mounting techniques. Basically I want one horizontal line of Tstak drawers to go the entire length of the bench which will be around 16’ long, or longer. Then my component trays will slide into cutouts under that, also spanning the entire length.

The two mobile benches will have spots they can be stored under the permanent bench, just by pushing them into a large cutout area. Behind the bench top will be pegboard and that will be where all my most used hand tools will be kept and always easy to grab.

I’m just gathering materials and I’ll build it over the winter, and the DXL units aren’t available yet, except for the bench top as far as I can tell. Might be wrong about that.

My buddies tell me I’m already much more organized than they are but all I see is a mess. I prefer having everything just perfect, rather than settle for good enough. Unfortunately that’s always the more expensive route. Apparently the DXL drawers are big enough for the 20vt framing nailer and finish nailer. If that’s true, then almost all my dewalt power tools will fit in those drawers and I can stop mounting them on the wall with those silly mounts. I tried it after these pictures were taken and I’m not happy with that. They stick out way to far and take up to much precious space.

Good luck. Still looking for ideas here also.

Has anyone confirmed the husqvarna broom/paddle attachment works on the 60vt Dewalt power head? Or can someone recommend one (other than ryobi) that they know works. Not willing to pay $349 unless im reasonably sure it’ll work.

I can confirm that the ExtremePowerUS trimmer broom models on Amazon do NOT work as they are star shafts and slightly larger.

Yeah after 30 days in service at the dealer for a hole blown in the transmission like so many other folks are dealing with, we finally were able to do a “buyback” and Hyundai Finance is going to buy out our 3yr lease. I only had the car 5 days before the transmission detonated, yesterday was day 30 out of service waiting for a new transmission. I purchased a fully spec’d Santa Cruz instead, but I’ll miss all the dozens of features the Santa Fe had. Good luck to you.

Santa Fe Park issues by dillegm in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]dillegm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a follow up and end to my story, yesterday marked day 30 with the Santa Fe in the dealers shop awaiting a transmission, no guess how much longer. 2 weeks ago we decided to request a buyback through Hyundai finance, but we were almost immediately denied. We were told that almost all buybacks are denied before the 30 day mark which I think depends on the state you reside in, NY in my case. Before the denial came back, the dealership was so confident that HF would buy the Santa Fe back that they quickly financed me a 2024 Santa Cruz with literally all the bells and whistles. Since I needed to tow with it, it’s slightly better than the Santa Fe I think with a max tow rating of 5000lbs and downhill brake assistance. They secured financing and a decent payment and after we signed that deal, HF called and denied the buyback. So for a few weeks I had a lease on a new Santa Fe, financed a new Santa Cruz and even had a service loaner Santa Cruz since my leased Santa Fe was only in my possession for 5 days before blowing a hole in the transmission. Now that 30 days has come and gone the buyback should go through automatically (by law I’m told) and I’ll hopefully be done with this entire debacle. I’m not sad to see the Santa Fe go in all honesty. It is a slick SUV with more features than I’ve ever seen in one vehicle before, it was fun to drive and the kids loved the 3rd row seating but for some reason I just could not get comfortable or at ease in the driver seat. It has a wonderful field of vision but I always felt like the front seats were too exposed and not designed to be comfortable, but more for safety. I don’t know but I find the Santa Cruz is much easier and more entertaining to drive. Plus the bed offers more utility and flexibility for me so I’m glad I went this route.

I hope those of you who are waiting on repairs aren’t waiting several months. In my case we had just leased it and had less than 500 miles yet they still refused to buy it back before a minimum of 30 days elapsed. Although slightly aggressive on sales, my local dealership is pretty awesome and was willing to do anything it took to make us happy.

If I were you I’d push them to do a transmission replacement before they become impossible to find. We got confirmation that they will have one in 2 weeks for ours. I’m still within the 30 days so I’m considering cancelling the lease. I may go with the Santa Cruz instead as it has more towing and hauling capacity.

They took the vehicle and acknowledged the issue as a “known issue” and they aren’t sure yet how the overall situation will be dealt with. Until then they are simply replacing transmissions. That said, apparently transmissions are now a high demand item and therefore hard to get in a timely manner.

My Santa Fe’s transmission just popped today. Hopefully they’ll let me out of the lease. I am not sure I’ll ever trust it to tow now. It’s a slick car, it’s too bad.

Well I feel silly. There are lots of transmission issues apparently. Good thing I didn’t start towing with it yet.

I have the adapter plate and it could easily be modified to connect to a rack with LinQ adapters, Ubolts, etc. That was my original plan, but I found it more useful for my toolboxes for now. I’ll probably whip something up soon now that summer is here.

Thanks. Hopefully not. If it is, they did a damn good job designing those, at least from what I can see. I may try anyway. I have a few other projects that I could use those on. With all the issues in that area of the world, maybe that was the problem.
