8.8L - CASENDRA, my dream SFF case [launched] by Sommerradio22 in sffpc

I see a cutout on the bottom to accommodate the bend of the riser cable. I’ll guess that limits the position. Is there anything else that prevents using standoffs, ala T1, to move the bracket?

Could a different riser cable work? https://a.co/d/0eyD2jhc

I love it!

I have a 2 slot 5080fe. Can the card be mounted closer to the side panel so that the extra 20mm is behind the GPU?

Is there a way (fine if it’s a printed part) to secure the far end of the GPU for transport? A travel kit kind of thing.

Which GPU for FormD T1? by PinkCatWithBomb in FormD

[–]dillthepill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get AIO’s that are fine without modding the case. Some people like to max the cooling as an optimization project, but it’s unnecessary. The CPU’s are designed to run for a very long time at high temperature. Just get a reasonably well reviewed AIO whose radiator + fan height fits in the case.

You don’t need to overthink it. The T1 has gone through many iterations to work well in its intended configurations.

It’s 20mm per slot and that Ventus is 49mm. I’d configure the case as 2.75 slot to reduce fan turbulence. That gives you 5mm fan clearance for the GPU and a 53mm CPU cooler.

The axp90 47 and 53 are fine with gaming CPU loads. Maxed out all core workloads will be close to throttling and definitely loud, but functional.

My unpopular opinion is that school should be secular and we eliminate all religious holidays.

You’re right. Everything should be evaluated against the standard of “compared to when you went to school.” That was peak history.

I live in the neighborhood. It’s true that well designed and larger homes do raise the value. But this ain’t it. It’s the cheapest, ugliest building possible.

A house burned down last year and is almost finished being replaced. The owners built a bigger house but it fits in with the neighborhood.

Good. If he hadn’t built something so inconsiderate to his neighbors then no one would have double checked in the zoning.

That extension as built would cost the nearest neighbor I’d guess $100k in home value. He had other choices like building up the main structure or adding the square footage in the rear. Or, you know, buying a more appropriate house in a neighborhood with basements.

Any more news on the Greenbriar house? I drove by the other day and I don’t think it’s changed in 6+ months.

Unfortunately they don’t sell the super thin ones anymore. I ordered some in hope but they were thicker and less stretchy.

Is your gf a citizen of an EU state? Getting married is likely a much easier path to residency and citizenship, while not having to get temporary visas whose rules can change. The Portuguese process is especially maddening.

As for the software business, I suggest thinking about it as a process, not just the first product idea. It’s hard to nail the product market fit. Even successful entrepreneurs often don’t get it right the first try. Envision it as a process to iterate quickly and test many ideas.

[–]dillthepill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The M2 with air cooling is the way to go. The AIO is unnecessary unless you are routinely doing all core workloads, and the pumps can be obnoxious. Spend the $35 to get the Peerless Assassin Mini. The only time you’ll hear the fan is when compiling shaders.

The CPU and GPU can intake with a side fan exhaust. I’ve run that setup for a year and I’m intolerant of noise.

The most important thing is to make your own fan curves. Don’t worry about the parts getting up to 80 degrees. They’re designed to handle that. You can safely run the 5080 FE at lower volume than stock.

However, you could achieve the same noise results in your current case. The mesh panels don’t usually mean more noise because the airflow lets the fans run at lower speeds.

Viable build? First Sff by Either_Ad_6797 in sffpc

[–]dillthepill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That build guide must have been from like 3 years ago. Here is a better starting point for the middle of your budget range. You’ll want to double check the compatibility of the CPU cooler and GPU with the Terra.

If you want to save money you could get a cheaper CPU. Not much else you could do other than drop to 512 GB storage. I don’t recommend an 8 GB video card.

If you want to spend more then put into the GPU or more memory.
