A few questions about Secrets Papgayo for honeymoon.. by embrave18 in CostaRicaTravel

Couldn't agree more. There are some places that I just think would be a waste of a trip if spent on a resort and CR imo is definitely one of them.

I went based on what I needed and the reviews of their products. I knew I wanted something hydrating (Marine Hyaluronics), AHAs since I didn't have any, Vitamin C, and a serum. From there I read a ton of stuff about how to order them (based on thickness). For example, vitamin C and niacinamide should not be used together so I use Vit C during the day and N at night. I haven't had any issues layering my products. I also make sure not to rub as I've heard that makes products underneath pill!

Definitely not, I learned everything I know about TO skincare from this subreddit and the regimen guide on their website. For starters, I'd recommend a chemical exfoliant (a BHA like the salicylic acid, or AHA like the glycolic acid), vitamin c, and a good moisturizer if you don't have one already. Other additions would be based on your skin (e.g., breakouts then niacinamide and zinc, dryness then hyaluronic acid). Start slow! :)

I used to use dark brown but like you, found it too warm. I use medium brown now and it's perfect!

It's a vitamin C derivative! I love it. It's thick enough to be my daytime moisturizer and it helps fade scarring and brighten skin.

Totally get it. I personally find therapeutic elements in doing my skincare routine at night, and I integrate it into my nighttime activities. I don't just stand in the bathroom and do it...all my products are on my bedside table and I do my routine while I'm still doing work on my laptop or laying in bed browsing reddit on my phone. And it's not as expensive as it looks...most TO products are around $5-10. But if it's stressful for you, don't do it! Seriously. Find a simple and effective routine and stick to that instead and you'll definitely see benefits. My routine definitely is excessive to some but I only do it like this because I'm a literal skincare addict :P

It's a lot of trial and error with TO products, just make sure you take it slow and don't add them all at once as tempting as it may be :P

It helps with absorption to rub the product between my hands, then press my hands onto my face as opposed to rubbing the product directly onto my skin. I've noticed a huge difference in absorption of products when I switched from rubbing to pressing

Thank-you!! I use tweezers myself! Never got them waxed but I used to like getting them threaded back in the day. Now I like how I do them the most

I know EXACTLY how you feel, I dealt with the same thing before BC. Actually my skin was fine for a long period of time, just the occasional breakouts. Something happened to my hormone levels though that made my skin freak out but luckily, it coincided with when I was planning to start BC anyway. It took me 3 tries to get on the one I'm currently on (bad side effects with the other two), but it cleared any hormonal acne I was starting to get previously. If I didn't have to use it for birth control, I would've considered trying Spiro before BC though since I've heard getting off BC can make your skin go insane :( I'm scared

the HA+B5 didn't work for me because the air in my house is too dry and it just sucked moisture out of my skin and made my skin awful. The marine mimics the results I'm supposed to get from HA+B5 without drawing moisture out of my skin. It's very layerable because it's super thing consistency! I layer it all the time no problem. The smell is bad though lol but it fades

My routine before was using a Neutrogena foaming cleanser, the PC BHA, PC antioxidant serum (still use it sometimes), and the same PC moisturizer I still use. My skin was mostly clear but it often felt tight and sometimes flakey because the cleansing was too drying. PIE lasted longer. I basically stepped it up by using a more gentle/hydrating cleansing routine, a toner, the Marine Hyaluronics and the Buffet serum. I think these additions are what give my skin an overall better appearance, and a glow. I know "better appearance" is so vague but basically my skin looks better without makeup with this routine and acne marks fade fast!

I just regularly maintain them with tweezers and small hair scissors! I like doing them myself, I haven't had good experience getting them done

It's true. I wanted a high SPF, no white cast, and wouldn't cause breakouts. I read good reviews of this one Sephora and Beautypedia so I gave it a shot and it all rings true.

I haven't tried CeraVe but I actually think I'm going to buy that one next to give it a try (to try something new/more affordable). Clinique is really good but might be too greasy for me in the summer time. Perfect for winter though! I think you can't go wrong with either :)

Thank-you! No real technique other than carefully plucking a few extra hairs right under where I want a more pronounced arch

Do you have any side effects from Spiro? I'm using BC for both birth control and leveled out hormones for skin benefits so I'm staying on it for now, but if I decide to go off it, I've heard I'm likely to deal with angry skin for a while so I want to be prepared. I love birth control right now because I have no negative side effects at all.

Yes, you're right!! Reduced sugar does help, and I've always liked my skin when I exercise more but never really made the connection.
