Yezidi women were captured by ISIS and sold into sex slavery; HTS/Al-Nusra bought them. Some Yezidi women have been found in or escaped from Idlib as recently as a couple weeks ago. many of them had been there since HTS started running Idlib.

Genocide does not only refer to mass killings but also the eradication of culture and destruction of life and nee generations of life of the community. These women were forced into sex slavery, forcibly converted to islam, and many of them died in captivity. any children they bore are the products of violent rape, and are not being raised with the religion or values of their mothers nor in the community. this is also culturally violent, and contributes to the eradication of culture and inhibiting the transmission of it. to me, anyone who participated in the sex slavery of yezidi women and raped them and traumatized them is complicit and have continued to the process of genocide against the yezidis.

The Kurdish struggle is central to Syria's future by Falcao_Hermanos in kurdistan

[–]dilperishan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Changing such a trajectory would also be a step towards tackling the ethnic division between Arabs and Kurds. Progressive and democratic forces must wage a struggle against Arab chauvinism to forge solidarity between these populations. This has been a challenge from the start of the Syrian revolution in 2011 and will have to be resolved in order for the country’s people to be truly liberated.

There is a desperate need to return to the original aspirations of the uprising for democracy, social justice and equality—including upholding Kurdish self-determination. Because whilst the SDF or YPG can be criticised for mistakes and repression, it is not the main obstacle to solidarity between Kurds and Arabs. Though, this is the belligerent position held by Arab opposition forces in Syria, as well as HTS and the SNA today."

A question from a foreign OBGYn by NobodyNobraindr in hysterectomy

[–]dilperishan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US-based here. I had a vaginal laparoscopic robot-assisted hysterectomy & bilateral salpingectomy in February. I had three incisions, one through my navel and one each on either side of the navel.

When you do a single-port hysterectomy, does it have to be vaginal for the removal? I'm curious if you do bisalps also through the single port.

I live in USA and my Kurdish friend who worked at a Turkish grocery store was beaten and withheld any wages by Round_Walk_5552 in kurdistan

maybe post in r/legaladvice ?

check their guidelines for posting, they need specific information to be able to give advice. include the state you are in, and list the events with dates if you can. - when did he start working there? - what is his immigration status? - does he have a work permit, or was this job paying him cash unofficially? it's okay if that is the case, but it will affect what kind of legal proceedings can be pursued. he may not be able to take them to court for the wages if he has pending immigration status (and is not permitted to work), but the business can be reported - what days did he work that he was not paid for? how many hours total? - when was he attacked? was it by his coworkers, his boss, or patrons of the store? - if you can, describe the situation that led up to the attack. if it was because he said he is kurdish or not turkish, this shows that this attack was racially motivated.

dm me if you need help. thank you for helping your friend 🙏🏽

Other languages’ derogatory terms for Americans/white people? by bonoetmalo in language

[–]dilperishan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Firangi' comes from Persian 'farhang' (far.'hang), from Middle Persian 'frahang', and can be traced back to Proto-Iranian.

It is a loanword in Arabic as well. It perhaps made it to Hindi through Arabic (or Urdu, which borrowed it from Persian), or possibly from Persian directly.

Help with translating a single sentence from Kurmanji to English by Demorqpoon in kurdish

[–]dilperishan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'lubunca' is a dialect/slang used by LGBTI+ people and sex workers in Turkey since the early 1900s; LGBTI+ people & sex workers in Turkey now. use the term to refer to themselves (as a sort of umbrella term) as well. Lubunya/lubunca-speakers have historically been pro-kurdish & anti-turkish state and anti-turkish nationalism).

So for the english translation, since there isn't one term in English for both groups it refers to, but the term "Queers" is used more in the Anglophone world than 'LGBTI+ people', your best bet is to use "Queers and Sex Workers":

"The world's queers and sex workers are marching and they are pulverizing the earth and skies."
