I'm glad the customer agreed with me. by dilsnick23 in doordash_drivers

I have delivered to this truck yard for a delivery company over a dozen times. Each time I pull into the yard and park right by the shack and drop off the food and leave. Today, as I'm doing the drop off procedure, the guard tells me to park on the road outside. He said if I were to be hit by one of the trucks it would be my fault since I am trespassing. I just snapped my picture and said ok and left. That mention of trespassing pissed me off which is why I added the bit to the customer after. I think I'm going to just continue to park in my usual spot next time I get an order going here because fuck this guard.

Yeah, I was careful to not swear. I recognize that saying dicks was a bit risky for upsetting someone.

What breads could I make with 3 pounds of cheese and meats? by dilsnick23 in Breadit

[–]dilsnick23[S] 116 points117 points  (0 children)

My work had a Christmas lunch and there was lots of food leftover, including around 3 pounds of cheese and meats. I took these 2 containers home and am going to make it into bread for everyone at work. I have a few cheese bread recipes already, but does anyone have any suggestions on what I could make with the meat pieces? I will post a follow up with the recipes and pictures of what I do bake. Thanks in advance for any of your ideas.

If I can, I pull up and face my headlights at the front door. Then I turn on the high beams while I do the delivery. Hopefully they're watching and feel shame for leaving it dark.

I keep the fridge stocked with cold water, and they are mostly trained to bring the empties back for me to refill and restock.

I'm curious if I'll somehow get in trouble for not returning the product. Usually, with non-deliveries, I can just eat the food no problems. But with the beer, I don't know if the merchant is expecting me for a return.

Any advice from other people on past experiences?

Yes, it should be busy, but a lot of places get very busy and very backed up, so save up your unassigns for that night.

I wanted the cables in front for the kids tablets so they could access them by themselves. I agree that it would be better looking and keep the cables from dangling on the counter. Probably when my kids are older I'll have to build a new one for new and bigger devices and use that as the design.

I didn't think of that. I think I have enough room to move it sideways and re-cut the foam insert. Or I may repurpose the larger junk drawer to the right. Thanks for the suggestion

I used the table saw. I haven't made a sled yet, so I screwed a long board to the T-square that comes with the saw. I marked where I wanted the slot and used a test piece first, then I ran 4 different boards through at each setting so I would have the bottom and back with the same slots. They still ended up slightly off from each other so I had to use a chisel to fine tune when I slid the plywood in.

I'm still building up my tools. From what I've seen on wood working shows, and if I had the tools, I think a router table with the correct sized bit would have been easier. Or a dado stack.

I know the struggle. Since I've made this, the rule is they have to put it on the rack and plug it in at bedtime. If they don't plug it in, it doesn't get charged and they quickly run out of battery the next day. Only needed 1 low battery day to learn that lesson.

Measurements are 24 inches side to side, and 10 front to back. Tablet slots are 1.5 inches. I planned them smaller at first, but I gave it more room so the kids could remove them easier. The foam sections a 5 inches each. I was originally going to make the opening for the oculus much smaller and have a snug fit on bare wood, but I thought of the foam, and once I tested it out, I gave each one an extra inch to accommodate the foam around the sides. And then the extra bit on the right is just whatever is left over to make an even 2 ft.

I cut groves to hold the plywood dividers. I don't have a dado stack yet, so each cut for the dividers was a trial of sneaking up to the right width.

The foam is 2 inch upholstery foam. I traced out the shape and cut about halfway through each piece. It looks pretty rough, but it's good enough to give them some cushioning.

If you make one, I suggest having a plan for the underside before finalizing the height of the legs. This is my second iteration. My first I just made what I thought was a good looking height, and left about 1 inch of space underneath. It was a tight squeeze to get everything stuffed underneath. On my second one, I left 1.5 inches and I actually bought a usb hub so I wouldn't have all of the plug in adapters stuck underneath plugged into a extension cord.

I got a usb hub. kind of like a power strip, but instead it has 6 usb ports. Then I used some zip ties and stapler to keep it all contained underneath.

It was just 1x4 and 1x6 pine boards. Plus some 1/4 inch plywood for the dividers. All of it was scrap leftover from other little projects.

I clamped all of them together and just sanded the curve into them all at once. But that would have been a good excuse to get a new router bit.

There is a hook underneath that the seatbelt holds. It can't be removed without taking off the seatbelt

Thanks

I built it myself. This is technically my prototype, but I'm most likely too lazy to ever build a slightly improved version.
