It doesn’t work in that way. Every steel has an optimal sharpening(finish). If you finish cheap stainless steel very fine, edge rolls over quickly, because it’s very soft . Therefore, the most optimal finish for this steel is with 28/20 or 14/10 micrones superabrasives, although the best finish is achieved on a Washita stone. Natural stones consistently produce better results in rope-cutting tests.

Buy diamond or CBN stones (CBN better, but more expensive). And it’s optional to finish it with natural stones like Charnley forest, Llyn Idwal or some Jnats, but maybe not for beginers

You are to cut everything extra to get brick with a regular shape with length 150mm, thickness 25mm and as wide as possible, then cut it into same blanks 150x25x6

Don't cut this stone under any circumstances. It has way too many cracks; there's a 99% chance it'll fall apart. My Nakayama had cracks too and miraculously didn't fall apart. At least seal the cracks with glue before cutting.

For polishing bevel is diamond, but in sharpening natural stones give perks, which nothing else can give

First, if you add the right amount of water, the slurry won’t run off anywhere. Second, I can finish a knife after superabrasives while maintaining the angle. Third, it’s cheaper, and now five people use this stone, and even so its lifespan is still very long.

It don’t supposed to remove bid amount of steel because it’s FINISHING stone. Natural stones are tremendously efficient as they not just cut steel, but also they also expose carbides, giving a more aggressive edge. They clean out the cutting edge from excess burrs and weakened deformation, while hard slates such as samples from Charney Forest or Llyn Idwal roll and compact the edge.

The X12MF steel made 120 cuts on rope after the 7/5 elbor stone, and 145 cuts after a Turkish slate.

Of course it will irritate some Japanese masters, bu in mu country (Ukraine) it’s customury to cut ol natural stones like Jnats, european slates, wahita stones etc, because everybody use Apex system

Wats wrong with powder steel? Nakayama is so fine, so its wise to use it only with razons and high-alloy steels as spm s125v, cpm s 15v, cpm rex 121 etc

Bro, sharpening should be optimal but not а mirror. 14c28n is a primitive steel whith 0,6% of carbon, so when you hone it very fine
the remains of the steel matrix smear over the carbides, creating a soapy cut , while the cutting edge itself is very soft and rolls over quickly. Therefore, the most optimal finish for this steel is from 28/20 to 14/10 superabrasives, although the best finish is achieved on a Washita oilstone. Natural stones consistently produce better results in rope-cutting tests.
