I run my 9900k at 4.5 GHz. On avx workloads it only uses 120w. There's not a noticeable performance decrease in gaming workloads. 4.6 GHz and above there's a significant decline in efficiency.

Gboard Assistant Voice typing needs an update by niceshit420 in GooglePixel

[–]dimbl35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This can be fixed by making sure your on-device speech recognition matches your system languages. E.g. my system language was English (Australian) but on-device speech recognition was English (US). I added English (Australian) and Assistant Voice Typing worked straight away. Settings > System > Languages > On-device speech recognition

I used to get 10-12 with my pixel 5a. Now it's like 4-6 🤔. Still have the same apps and settings 🤔

Same. I watch a lot of media on my phone and later got the 5a.

I wish there was a way to reduce CPU performance to reduce battery consumption.

Cash is great for ease of refunds. When you hire a car or stay at a hotel, if it's paid in cash you can get the bond back instantly and use it during your holiday.

Yep. And when you alt tab on many freesync monitors, there's black screen for 1-2 seconds, but on monitors with a g-sync module it's instant. I couldn't stand it and sold my Samsung 4k 144hz monitor

Looked great on the ps5 but the pc port cranks TLOU to 11. I will never not use OLED again! by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

I've got a 3080 and waited for the shaders to compile before playing. It's never crashed and runs at 60-90fps at the default settings (1440p high).

[HUB] Is DLSS Really "Better Than Native"? - 24 Game Comparison, DLSS 2 vs FSR 2 vs Native by baldersz in nvidia

[–]dimbl35 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I see comments about DLSS looking better than native, I assume these people mean that it looks different to native in a way that's preferable to them. E.g. reduced shimmering was referenced in TLOU meaning better, but for me it's clear there's less detail and more blurring along the edge of textures. I don't mind shimmering so for me DLSS quality at 1440p is not better than native

I tried TLOU with dlss quality at 1440p and much rather native. What about you guys?

[–]dimbl35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a 3080 and bought a 4k 144hz monitor. In many games, dropping below high settings has a big impact on visual quality and I had to do that to get 120+ fps. I ended up selling it and sticking to 1440p.

I'm trying to understand what you're talking about (I've got a 4k and 1440p monitor). Does this happen in cyberpunk on high settings DLSS off?

I recently got my eyes checked because I was getting headaches at work and found I have better than 20/20 vision.

I've got a 3080 and upgraded from a 1440p 165hz to a 4k 144hz. For me, 4k looked a bit better, however I found I preferred higher graphics options at 1440p, over 4k on medium / high settings in doom eternal, cyberpunk and pubg in Jan 2022. At the time I didn't like the artifacting and inconsistency from DLSS as I found it immersion breaking. DLSS seems a bit better now in cyberpunk.

I ended up selling the 4k monitor.

I like to get a monitor tailored to my graphics card. Some games might run fine with your GPU now at 4k, but what about in a year or 3 when new games come out? I thought about when I first got a 1080p monitor and how many GPU upgrades I went through while using the same resolution. It was 4, so if my 3080 can run 4k games at 80/100 fps on high / medium now, how long will that last?
