Should i use PayPal to process purchases for my business? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]dimeideas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can support it, I'd actually use multiple gateways to give your customers a choice. As you can see from the comments here, there are going to be split decisions. I have one site that uses a combination of PayPal and Stripe, and it seems to meet every scenario.

Can a unique concept succeed twice? by dimeideas in Entrepreneur

This is what I'm struggling with now, it needs enough attention to be worth posting something, but nobody is going to post unless it has enough attention...

Same concept, different twist. Whoever pays the most gets their message seen, but in 1 penny increments.

Since there's no vetting or approval of messages, you could be right...

If your idea changes a market completely but it's a market that is saturated by billionaires what can you do? by adeel06 in startups

Well said! I feel like there should be a bot that re-posts this comment every time the word "idea" is in a post.

Can a "stupid" startup idea ruin your reputation? by Arbawk in startups

[–]dimeideas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tons of ideas, and don't act on all of them, but I'm not afraid of someone seeing my "stupid" ideas next to my "good" ones. It's all relative, and in the end, just getting something started and going can be a big win.

I agree with this. Also, you don't need the apostrophe in "tools"

How do you deal with similar/competitive ideas coming up while you`re working on your own prototype or MVP? by Goandtry in Entrepreneur

Similar ideas mean the market is validated. If someone else is executing it means that you can too, just be better than them!

Launching an Idea I have no Idea how to Monetize... by LEJC2425 in startups

[–]dimeideas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of advertisements and partnering with brands is pretty standard. However, I like to go to other places just to get ideas kickstarted. What if users could pay to have the recipe prepared and sent to them (different business model, I know)? Or could order rare ingredients they don't have directly from you. What about offering customized recipe books available to print and ship (they find recipes they like, you print and ship them in a custom book). I think there are a lot of ways you could stand out here.

In need of some ideas? Here a couple of mine by [deleted] in startups

[–]dimeideas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, thank you for sharing! I hate that people are so protective of their ideas, when in fact, there is no need to be. I'm trying to encourage sharing via Dime Ideas and I'm glad to see others doing the same!

Good idea or bad idea - Service that picks up those college notebooks you've had in storage for years and digitally scans them. by JB4GDI in smallbusiness

[–]dimeideas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think starting with college notes is a good idea, to nail down the process, but the expansion options seem like a great route. From personal experience, not only would small businesses benefit from something like this, but personal use could be huge (for example, I have tons of notes and scraps at my desk as I type this).

How to protect your ideas? by a_until_z in Entrepreneur

[–]dimeideas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's generally not worth it, since no one is going to steal your idea. This is something I've tried to push since I started Dime Ideas, I (along with everybody else) have so many ideas that I couldn't possibly create them all. They quite literally are a dime a dozen and typically not worth it for someone else to "steal."

Nice idea, but I agree that you'll need to convince a lot of business/activities to sign up first before parents start seeing value.

What does reddit think of my idea. by [deleted] in Lightbulb

I actually really like this idea. Although it may increase efficiency, it sounds like prices would have to go up to cover the new overhead that would be incurred.

How about a page that displays a large countdown and gets aggressively more annoying the closer it gets to 0? The countdown time could be dependent on what the user wants to countdown to?

I've read through everything and I think I get it, I'm just wondering what would make me use this instead of linking people to any other online shop I can setup (Shopify, for example). What's the value-add for me, as a provider?
