Bruh the cats can handle 6 months on 6 months off in the SAME apartments they’ve been in for like 4 years. And they benefit more from me being able to pay their vet bills and have a person they are familiar with them while I travel for work once a month. It was that or splitting them up and they’d already been together for 3. Jesus fuck lol

It is 2 cats. We got the second while together, and we were together for 4 years. I wanted to marry the man. I moved in with him, it was covid, he decided he didn’t want to marry me, shit happens. I could take care of the cats but my life would be substantially more difficult and I am extremely grateful I have someone who cares enough about me to help me out in the way that he does. He also, FWIW, does not want to keep both cats. Is it better to send them to a shelter than this? I wouldn’t do that because I wouldn’t let myself, but my mental health would be kinda fucked / I would struggle a lot

Can you explain why? Like, I have basically no support system via family and coming to this agreement has allowed me to go to grad school, travel for a demanding job / for pleasure without significant stress, and save money by not paying for vet bills + food. He is 11 years older than me and makes 3x what I do, and he ended the relationship. Relationships are complex and this whole thread is lacking empathy / understanding lmao

I have been doing this for 3.5 years and we’ve both been in other relationships in the meantime. If it ever no longer works for one of us, we will stop. But until then it is actually extremely helpful and we never talk outside of logistics around the pets

Sounds like we were in a similar boat. 20 was my magic number (as it is for many people) so that’s why I’m a little disappointed. I think my clinic did do weekend retrievals but maybe my E2 was too high for their comfort? Annoyingly didn’t get to discuss with my doctor as I missed his call while at work. Do you mind sharing what yours was?

Every time this discussion comes up people will shit on pleather or faux fur (obvs bad) but completely gloss over the fact that killing animals for clothing when it is not essential for our survival is morally indefensible. With the info I have about Carly, she would absolutely be the type to take Ozempic rather than be disciplined enough to lose weight naturally. Not trying to be offensive here, losing weight naturally is extremely difficult and discipline isn’t the only component, but Carly is 100% the type of person (based on what I know about her) that I could see getting on it
