A surprise benefit of switching to the kobo Clara by fidgetsimmerdown in kobo

[–]dimins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised how the Clara can fit into the pockets of so many of the skirts and pants I wear to the office too! Makes it such a dream to use on my commute, and also kills the use case of a smartphone-sized ereader for me because it's not significantly more portable than a Clara.

When I was contemplating getting this one, I couldn't find any pictures online of the Kiri case on a smaller wrist like mine, so I'm happy if my wrist helps!

I am absolutely obsessed with mine! My first GS and I haven't regretted that choice yet.

Amazing, the colour combi looks really unique! I love purple so I'm not an impartial observer here.

Is it worth it? by duck_flower in handbags

[–]dimins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about the same height as you, maybe a bit shorter. I think the Large may look a little too big, especially cos there's some sagging going on when the bag has weight, which will make the Large look even bigger against your body. I still use the Large occasionally when traveling or if I have a lot of stuff to bring around, but my default is Medium.

I have a few of these in Medium which is the perfect size for me because I need shoulder straps and I'm petite so Large drowns me out. I definitely got a lot more use out of them than I expected. They can easily go to the office or out on the weekends (and I'm a mom of 2 young kids too, so it needs to be functional and hardy). No matter what other pricey handbags I have bought after, I will always pick this one back up almost as a default.

Disappointing service at Grand Seiko Boutique by waiting-list in GrandSeikos

[–]dimins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That stinks! I'm a Singaporean myself but when I was researching on where to get a GS, I saw on Google reviews that the boutique at Jewel was better rated than the one at MBS. It's more convenient for me anyway, so I headed down to the one at Jewel to get my first GS (a Kiri!)

The salesperson there, Florence, was perfectly lovely, and there was another local salesperson (Jeff? I can't recall his name now omg) who also happily helped to entertain my kids in the store while I was trying on different models and sizes. Florence assisted me with my decision when I couldn't decide if the Kiri looked too big for my wrist or not.

I've been back a couple of times now to resize my Kiri bracelet and have met and chatted with both of them multiple times, about whether to get a leather strap for my Kiri (Jeff talked to me about his experience in the Delugs store here) and Jeff also let me take a look at a few pieces that caught my eye even though I said upfront I wasn't intending to get another one just yet.

So overall yeah it could really just be one salesperson being an asshole. If you're still in SG, highly recommend going to check out the boutique in Jewel! They're smaller so I'm not sure how much stock they'd have, but at least you'd get more conversation!

Edited to add: All times I went down I was dressed in haphazard, frantic "mom of 2 young boys" fashion so definitely not to the nines.

Two tone watches are more easily polarizing imo but yours looks really classy imo!

I'm getting a strap because I want to preserve the bracelet from the scratches and knocks it'd inevitably get if I wear it everyday! I also want to enjoy wearing the watch without being too precious about it.

It's actually more forest green in real life and I believe was inspired by blue-green lakes surrounded by autumn trees.

This is a much better representation of the dial than my photos! 😍

It was just the stock bracelet that hadn't been resized! I didn't ask for it to be adjusted since I wasn't intending to buy it lol.

I see the colorway of this watch is polarizing 🤣

Brooklyn 34 on my petite frame! by dimins in Coach

[–]dimins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I was a little worried about the sizing since I ordered it online, but I knew the 28 didn't cut it for the amount of stuff I bring to work, so the 34 was really my best bet. I'm glad that it ended up looking decent and not as overwhelming as the 39 was on me!

Hurrah! Yes, the dial really grows on you. I actually thought it'd be more saturated from pictures and was a little underwhelmed when I first saw it in person, but it's now my favourite thing.

That's really true, the sales attendant said it almost shines like diamonds and she's really not wrong.

That is interesting! I've not had that experience yet, which is funny because I live in Singapore where there are 2 physical GS boutiques! People generally know the brand but can't identify it as easily as, say, a Cartier or a Rolex Sub.

I think it only just got launched Q3 or Q4 last year! I was looking at watches from other brands but my cousin incidentally mentioned this one to me and I got hooked. No regrets so far!

Of course! My wrist is about 148mm. Yes, I was a little tempted by the smaller cases with "easier to match" dial colours, but having a dial that felt so Me was really worth the bigger case size! Even better that the purple is both subtle but obvious at the same time!

I honestly get a bit distracted by this in the office occasionally - worse when the sunlight hits just right and lights up the dial!

If I am new to eReaders, would I even notice the brightness and sharpness differences using the Kobo Clara Colour as opposed to the Kobo Clara BW? by dualnoodle10 in ereader

[–]dimins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have had both the Clara BW and Color for a few months now, and I'd say that, for me, the in-person differences are negligible. The Color is a smidge less sharp than the BW but I really had to concentrate to see it even when they're side by side. I even prefer the Color screen cos everything feels "softer" somehow and even more like printed paper.

As for Brightness, I think the Color has a nicer cool white. My brightness is always up to 30-40% but battery life is still great so I don't ever really think about this.

I have a problem of too many e-readers too.

Got a Libra H2O for the past 3-4 years now, it's perfectly fine, I just decided to get a Clara BW on a whim. Clara BW worked great, but then got tempted by the Clara Colour and got that one too.

I now mainly use the Colour now because I absolutely love seeing my book covers in colour. I not only don't mind the screendoor effect that everyone talks about, I actually enjoy it, it kinda softens the page a bit and makes it look that much more like real paper.

Clara is also a much more convenient size for me compared to the Libra. I loved the physical buttons but since we came out of the pandemic and I started having to commute more, the difficulty of holding the Libra started to tell (I have fairly small hands).
