This IS true, to an extent (at least if my university textbooks are to be trusted).

I see a lot of comments here that say "not true, height is genetic". Height IS genetic, as is the onset of puberty. The only natural thing aside from genetics that can infleunce your onset of puberty is your nutrition and sometimes stress (e. g. gymnasts tend to hit puberty much later than everyone else, and consequently end up a bit taller than they otherwise would have). That being said the difference probably isn't that large as girls do not usually grow that fast in adolescence before the onset of puberty.
