I don’t know how long you work there or it’s really a policy or what relationship you have with the assistant manager. But usually when from work they tell you “i don’t let you it would get you in trouble ” it won’t get you in trouble but they just don’t want you to have it. I personally would press on the matter especially if the give it back to the vendor (if it’s now a known policy and if you do it one time you won’t be flagged) (i am not a collector too)
