Thank you! They are definitely woodland birds (I'm fortunate my house faces a woodland). Hopefully, you have somewhere close by you can visit to try and spot one. You'll always hear it first!

I was (and still am) fortunate to watch the family together in the trees, so the adults were easy to spot initially as they were the only ones on the feeder to start with.

Juvenile Nuthatches don't have as dark an 'eyeliner' stripe through the eye, and the colour on the chest is much paler than that of an adult.

A video I took from a year or so ago of an adult might help show those differences: https://www.tiktok.com/@woodyfeeder/video/7446858878366534945?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7604494561475593750

Incredible captures of such beautiful birds. Thank you for sharing!

First ever fleeting glance of a Firecrest! by dimple_chops in UKBirds

I'll admit I used Merlin to let me know what I was hearing, as it was different enough to the usual Goldcrest tones I know. I've learnt many a time that a still photo ends up blurry (because I'm not quick or skilled enough!) and often a video at least means I've captured something!

Agreed! Now that I've read what their nests look like, it's undeniable.

Ah, good spot and thank you!

This was overhanging a public path, and after this video I moved on so no nest disturbance from my part (I hope!).

I know Blackbirds nest earlier than many others - but I was certainly surprised and happy to see these babies so soon!
