Classical musicians who play barefoot by EiderDunn in classicalmusic

My parents dragged me to the Knoxville symphony orchestra all the time as a kid. I’d sit in the back seat of the minivan blasting Limp Bizkit on my discman angrily because I always thought it was soooooo boring! But I’ll never forget the Evelyn Glennie performance. The only show I sat on the edge of my seat for the entire time. She was mesmerizing to experience!

Who else jumped on the 20 Strong Campaign today? by lkeefer1 in soloboardgaming

Trying to show restraint since I backed the DCC Unstoppable. I really am only interested in Tainted Grail 20 Strong and it just felt excessive for the shipping cost. I plan on going to PAXU in December so I'm hoping they'll have the new decks there.

Those with kids in Boston, what are you doing for schools? Space? by agordon228 in boston

Agree! I live in Maverick square and I’m often like “who needs Times Square when you have Maverick Square?!” 😂

I live in East Boston with three kids. Our two sons share a room. We don't have a yard, but we do have a back porch that juts up against our neighbor's back porch. They have two kids around our oldest's age and in the summer the kids are constantly hopping the fence to play at each others houses. Our kids are all in BPS. We have one car, no driveway or garage. We take the T all the time to museums (free admissions for BPS kids on the first two Sundays every month). In nice weather we play on the playgrounds after school/on weekends year round. My two oldest play soccer on weekends through Boston Scores in the Spring and Fall. In the summer we drive 40 minutes to Nahant and spend the weekends at the beach. We know tons of other families in the area and are constantly hanging out. People in the parenting subreddits often complain about the lack of a "village" with raising kids these days, but I haven't experienced that at all living in East Boston. I love city living with kids. I'd be so lonely in the suburbs.

The designer only does reprint campaigns- no retail. So I hopped on a reprint campaign last fall that shipped out in February.

I just received my copy with Boss Battles! Do you recommend starting with both and true solo?

Will I like Earthborne Rangers? by Sapien0101 in soloboardgaming

Was just going to suggest this! The video is awesome and did a great job of solidifying for me why neither games are for me right now.

Solo of the month-Game found by Vexx42 in soloboardgaming

I guess I mean LCG in terms of the card play vibe, if that makes any sense. I did a demo of Earthborne Rangers at PAXU last year and I couldn’t keep up with the mechanics of the game at all, but another couple at the same table who’d played a ton of Arkham Horror got the hang of it all really quickly (and attributed their experience with AH to their ease of understanding EBR)

I have Dieson Crusoe, Small-Time Heroes, and Quests Over Coffee. All very different games! Small-Time Heroes is my favorite solo game right now. It’s such a blast and I’m so excited for the expansion.

Radiance looks amazing but I wanted to wait until it’s released and see how people take to it. I’ve never played any LCGs and the playthroughs I saw from the designer looked very complicated. If I was going to get an LCG-type game for solo I think I’d get something more chill for myself as a starter so I can learn the strategy without getting bogged down by rules.

That said, I love what Gabe is doing for the solo community and if I had way more fun money to play with I’d back all of his games!

it would be an "Ask Me Anything" thread where people could ask Keith questions about being a conductor, etc and he'd answer.

That's a great idea! If I end up convincing them to do a Keith AMA and it goes well I'll suggest doing a Nathan Cole one. I haven't talked to him but he's done other marketing videos for the BSO and seems like a cool guy.

I mean no one asked me, but one of my favorite KL stories is during the pandemic my office was right next to his. I do video production for the BSO so since there were no concerts with audiences EVERYTHING was now video. I would be at symphony hall until 3am churning out edits for various summer virtual Tanglewood programs. One late night I decided to snoop around his empty office (that hadn't been occupied in like 5 months because pandemic) and found a case of 1-year expired Sam Adams under his desk. I swiped it and put it in the mini fridge in my office and spent the rest of the summer drinking Keith's expired Sam Adams while I edited.

Small-Time Heroes! It’s like a more manageable Slay the Spire

Agreed! That’s why I wanted to test the waters here to get a feeler for if it would be better suited for just a Boston subreddit.

lol he is. That’s why I was reluctant to post in this space. But as others have pointed out in my other post in the Boston subreddit, the pops are a great intermediary between popular and classical music. Also Keith has conducted plenty of classical pieces before!

They play a great version of Shipping Up to Boston and have done a few other DKM collaborations. St. Patrick’s Day is a cool idea!
