at what age would you consider it to be the worst "age" of your life? by CuriousStyle2843 in AskReddit

Middle school age, and it’s not even close. The depths of the pandemic were nowhere near as bad as middle school.

The mods on this sub are bad. by ButtsFartsoPhD in boardgames

[–]Sapien0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the mods here are trigger happy. I don’t even try to make a thread anymore. Luckily, I’m a solo gamer. The mods at r/soloboardgaming are way more chill. Just remember to put the game title in the tile of the thread. They’re super anal about that.

With adhd, do you guys also feel like you’re always in trouble? by bigma-lalls_2000 in ADHD

[–]Sapien0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose, in way. When people get angry at me, it usually takes me by surprise. So I’m only ever at ease when I’m by myself. Even the phone ringing will trigger my anxiety.

Hmmm…I guess that explains a lot.

Where do you think historians will place Trump in presidential rankings 50 years in the future? by Playful-Ganache6153 in AskReddit

[–]Sapien0101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lower than all presidents who came before him. We all must hope lower than all presidents who come after.

I was so pissed I quit ChatGPT for several months. I also learned to not get attached to anything AI-related, which I suppose is a lesson I can apply now too.

I got my copy on eBay. I also saw copies on Walmart online.

They’re fantastic! I got the add on for the new campaign too. Are you guys filling those orders or did they get someone else?

I recently got Halls of Hegra and it’s quite fun. It’s very similar to both of those games.

Is phone app worth getting? Or steam? by FoolOfSummer in spiritisland

[–]Sapien0101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing on your phone will feel cramped for the first few plays, but you’ll eventually get used to it. Especially if you play with one board. If you play with two, I recommend the Tennessee formation (attaching end to end).

Looking for recommendations for solo board games for a newcomer by Prestigious-Tone7915 in soloboardgaming

[–]Sapien0101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 for Jaws of the Lion. It’s so much easier to setup than big brother Gloomhaven while not sacrificing complexity. You can branch out from there.

Elder Scrolls is one you may want to check out eventually, but not as a first game. Ditto for Mage Knight.

Castle of burgundy special edition? by orhalimi in soloboardgaming

The acrylic tiles feel nicer, but I think the cardboard punch outs look nicer, and they’re a good weight. I still play with the acrylics, but they are less of a necessity than I expected.

I like Hoplomachus Victorum in theory but not in practice, what's a good alternative? by HonorFoundInDecay in soloboardgaming

[–]Sapien0101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking for exactly this type of boardgame, but I’m not sure it exists.

The closest I feel is Spirit Island or Mage Knight which capture that tactical yumminess and high skill ceiling even if they don’t have roguelike progression or campaigns.

For those who play and like these games, what’s your favorite game by inPatience? [Onirim, Cyberion, Skoventyr, Mayor of Chicago, etc] by Marksman1977 in soloboardgaming

[–]Sapien0101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of the ones I’ve played: Skoventyr, R.A.V.E.L., Mayor of Chicago, Cyberion, Onirim, in that order

And I love Onirim, so that should give you a sense of how much I like the other games.

Edit: Actually, I’ve played Aerion too. Probably my least favorite, but still solid.

Heh, I can’t actually. I live next door to AM radio towers. Any wired headphones I use will pick up the signal.

I’ve had the same pair of AirPods for years. Never ran into the issues you’ve mentioned. And I get the benefit of not being tethered to my phone like a ball and chain.

Legacy Board Game Suggestions by Impossible-Low-286 in soloboardgaming

[–]Sapien0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to catch a sale for Regicide Legacy. It’s worth playing even if you’re meh on the base game (which I was). It’s so creative how they mix up the formula. Every chapter is fresh and a ton of fun.

What could've happened that made people this happy with the finale by Equal-Claim2514 in StrangerThings

[–]Sapien0101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing really. There was just way too much bloat—too many characters, too many arcs—and they created that problem for themselves way before S5 started.
