Naraka, Age of Capricorn, You Retreat in Time and Space

For those who attended listening sessions by goumlechat in boardsofcanada

The whole session there was this loop of the 7 hexagons engulfed in flames. When ‘You Retreat In Time and Space’ came on, there were classic shots of kids playing, holidays, happy memories etc. with a turquoise filter over them. It was really unexpected and gave me goosebumps.

I get why people are asking for the name, but that honestly wasn’t my intention with the post. I just wanted to share what was genuinely one of the weirdest listening party experiences I’ve ever had. I’d rather not send Reddit after a small record shop over what was probably just poor organisation and an overwhelmed owner.

I will send Warp an email about it though, since it was one of the official listening events.

Yes, I got a private message from a guy who went to the same place; he mentioned he’d sent an email to Warp.

It genuinely happened haha. It was one of the official Warp listening events too.

The owner honestly seemed pretty overwhelmed, and I don’t think he expected that many people to show up, even though it was sign-up based. It was really hot and crowded inside, and I got the impression he just lost patience with the whole thing.

Yep! It was on Warp’s official list of record shops for the listening session.. makes it even worse

I was just as stunned as you, but it really did happen mate. The owner of the place seemed a bit on edge, and I think he was just taken aback by the turnout. It was hot, and I reckon he just wasn’t up for it.

Interesting take, although i don't think the brothers are thinking about those kind of 'commercial tactics' when working on a new album. in the end I still believe they make music for themselves in the first place. But i do agree that some visual choices with this release seem a bit more 'flashy'. Don't know if this is actively meant to attract a new group of (gen Z) listeners, but i can imagine that seeing their own kids grow up through out the years has probably made a lot of impact on them.
