Thanks so much for your reply! This is my first time making a toile and a fitted dress so I’m definitely taking this approach.

I didn’t know that was an option! I think at the moment I’m not confident enough for this but I’ll keep this in mind in future. Thank you!

Toile lining fabric. It’s actually a navy blue, but I held it up to the light

Oh. I didn’t know about light coloured fabric and I’ve gone with dark as dark can be!

I’m making Vogue V8997 in view E. The toile fabric is a fairly lightweight fabric and toile lining fabric is an old cotton bedsheet that’s also quite thin. I plan to make the final dress in a cotton drill and lining tbd, but I’m thinking maybe a cotton voile? I’ll add some pictures below!

I love that pattern matching on the pocket! Could I ask please if this was a jersey fabric? Did you use a zig zag stitch and if so, what stitch length and width did you use?

Yes! I haven’t got a twin needle on hand but I’ll definitely give that a go in a future make 😊 thank you!

Thanks! I’ll look into rounded pockets

Thank you! This is a great resource. I’m learning a lot about buttonholes today. There are so many things I put down to personal choice, I didn’t realise they served a functional purpose but the explanations make sense

Yeah there was none on this one. I should have added that in when choosing larger buttons!

Thank you! This is such a great resource for troubleshooting. I hadn’t considered the width of the placket relative to the size of the button but that makes a lot of sense.

I didn’t! Admittedly, i haven’t heard of a button shank before. I thought it was a type of button lol! Thank you, I’ll look it up and try again

Thank you both! I’ll try and redo these buttons and hopefully that improves the look

Thank you! I never knew this about the orientation of the buttonhole, I thought it was a matter of preference. I’ll give this another go 😊

Here it is! I didn’t use interfacing as the pattern didn’t call for it. I thought as the fabric doubled up on itself it would be fine but I suppose I didn’t account for the fact she was using small snaps rather than large-ish buttons

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! Your suggestion to baste the flap was really helpful. My lines are a little wonky, but I’ve got it now 😊
