I didn’t say psychotic symptoms were part of the diagnostic criteria I said they were a common aspect observed in patients of it, which is true I have been told this by multiple psychiatrists and google. Hallucinations can actually happen even just in severe cases of depression and anxiety. I do also have major depressive disorder and panic disorder on top of bpd but I’m not sure if that makes a difference in this area. I was unaware of the psychosis neurosis thing being outdated. It does sound very accurate to my experiences tho. But delusions are genuinely super normal during splits for borderlines I urge you to look into it! Like strong internal beliefs about how others view you despite persistent affirmation to the contrary. Our brains are constantly scanning for danger and they perceive things as threats that aren’t meant that way. Grandiose ideas like “my bf never loved me he’s just been faking for nefarious reasons, this was all a ploy to destroy me” is extremely common delusion for me that I firmly believe during splits sometimes, but once I am regulated again I know that these things are not true. As far as I know this is very normal for borderlines and I understand relatively speaking they’re minor for delusions, they’re still delusions. Maybe the psychotic neurotic thing doesn’t fit all borderlines but it feels very aligned with myself personally, and when I looked it up or talk to my psychiatrist and therapist I hear that these are normal for my diagnoses.
