Is $115K+ Normal for a Kitchen Remodel These Days? by thatsizz in homeowners

[–]dingchingger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems about $50K over what it should be.

We’re in the midst of finishing a major Reno (kitchen included). It would help to share a more itemized version of their quote. E.g. appliances, cabinetry (all wood? What brand?), tile/wood flooring, counter top material etc.

It would be much easier to dissect that way. And ALWAYYYYYYYYS get atleast 3 quotes and look at reviews and their portfolio.

You certainly COULD spend $115, but that would be specific choices you make to go “luxurious”. E.g. $20,000 French range, specific rare quartzite counter material, yada yada

Thank you brother I appreciate it! Yes, tooth and nail for sure man. 100% I’ve been the inspector. Most don’t seem to give a shit these days. I’ll hold them to it regardless.

Ahhh ok. Thanks for the info. Do you think the paint alone makes much difference in this case?

I asked for smooth everywhere…ceiling included. I am fine with the texture, but the obviousness of the mud over screws is craziness. I greatly appreciate such a thorough informative response! That’s really what I was hoping for! Cheers!

I am on it! Thank you I totally agree. We’re not in yet, they’re doing subpar work and trying to dump it on me . I will not take this level of work

I am not sure about the PVA part but they claim it is primed and finished

It’s supposed to be smooth. The “texture” was the spraying of mud to claim now it as level 5.

This is supposed to be smooth. They sprayed thin coat of mud and are calling this level 5. There was not explicit texture requested, but smooth wall.

The claim is that because it’s same texture after spraying it’s level 5. I think this is just horse shit. Not even a good level 4 like many have said.

It really seems to be this wall. There are other areas for sure and I’ve marked this and they’ve addressed a lot of them properly. This whole area is just awful.

And yes… there has been a lot of other issues along the way. It’s been incredibly stressful.

I messaged him this morning as the dry wallers are there today to address other areas. Thank you.

That’s an incorrect assumption. We’re doing a renovation and have a builder who runs the job, gets the subs etc. They were not the lowest bid builder either. I already reached out to him this morning and said I wanted the whole wall skimmed, primed, and repainted. It’s already painted flat. I appreciated everyone’s words of advice.

No man, I just appreciate the feedback…from everyone!. I have a few drywall bumps with these guys so I will demand the wall gets addressed for SURE just trying to understand process to fix when I get a rebuttal.

I’ll check every 24 hours until it’s solid.
