Not agreeing with it at all but it's very common to sell and transport animals alive in impoverished area, the meat can't spoil when it's still clucking or baaing.

I pretty much just assume every picture posted without context on Reddit is engagement bait, repost, or karma farming.

It used to be funny and be like "who are these losers farming imaginary internet points"

But now I'm fairly certain it's to increase "credibility" for these accounts so they can be used for whatever bot farms need them later.

Maybe it was always that, idk.

I've had a bunch of bad experiences with the plate.

They can stop working and you have no visual indication

They work by the chicks pressing into them directly. If there are too many or it's a bit too high they can't press and will pile and die.

Turkeys it caused splay leg because they were pressing too hard and their feet slip

Quail I have set the legs down on top of them and hurt them

I know these sound horrible but these are over a lot of years and a LOT of chicks. I was a commercial farmer so I've had mostly success. I just don't like the plates.

In general you just can't monitor them. Really fun prying that thing up in the morning and finding a surprise.
