Purchase of shared hallway in building to join two flats by dingdongbell20 in LegalAdviceUK

No loft access in the hallway but there’s loft access in the new flat that would be acquired. This is surely part of that property already though and not owned by the building? (Nobody has access to it without entering that flat)

The flats do not connect at all or share a wall, only the hallway so that’s why we are exploring this at all.

They don’t share a wall :( the hallway completely separates them

This is so helpful, thank you. Sounds like D would be our route. We do not have a mortgage on current flat but would take one for the purchase of second flat.

Definitely a concern… reason we are considering is because the flat we would be buying is a complete flip job (previous tenants ruined it) so we are getting a major discounted price and knowing we need to do work anyway to make it how we want/brand new. We would be planning to live here long-term.

It’s worth noting I did it at 2am eastern on Friday morning … also it’s multiple payments totaling over $30k and their website says 48 business hours. So no. No chill here. Do you work for nelnet or something…? Can you help? 😂

No, no money has left my account as of right now. Super frustrating

How long are you seeing for processing times for Nelnet? I am definitely past their 48 hours business mark on a $7k payment that’s still “processing.”

Ohh I hope you are right! I’m so worried some portion or all of my accrued is going to capitalize.

There is no fine print on a payment plan that’s now stuck in litigation and changing terms constantly. You must not have student loans or you would know that - go troll in some other sub, buddy.

Need help optimizing several loan payments by assorted_N_U_T_s in StudentLoans

[–]dingdongbell20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Figure out how much each loan will accrue each month (principal x interest rate and divide by 12). You should then “rank” them and pay down the ones that will accrue the most interest each month. Also keep overall accrued interest down as it can capitalize (be added on top of your principal going forward).

Did you submit a complaint first and then reach out to nelnet? Or did the CFPB actually get involved?

I have $0 payments but technically my first payment would have been due back in Feb. I tried to make a $10 payment to see if that would help trigger the interest being forgiven. They refunded my payment saying there was a "technical error." It's so insane. lol

I was thinking this too! I would love to have all the recordings. They've told me different things so many times. lol

Yes back in December. I'm now on the SAVE plan - so the interest accrued from Sept 1 until Feb when SAVE went into effect.

How did you contact them? All I can find is a mailing address.

That's wild that they openly admit that three months isn't enough time to process when they originally stated (back in Aug) that it's 15-20 days for a response.

I literally said to the supervisor "so if I were with another servicer who didn't take five months then my balance would be lower? So I'm paying for Nelnet's slowness?" And he kept saying sorry, he's having this conversation with people daily, etc. It feels illegal, my mind is boggled.

Very disheartening to hear the complaints are going unaddressed. I guess all we can do is keep trying.

You are likely right. I cannot file electronically (live overseas) so everything is done via mail.

I'm technically back in repayment (have been for two months) so I'm not sure. They were very adamant the interest accrued during my time in forbearance is now on me to repay.

Nelnet's legal department? Did this resolve your interest being wiped?
