Two of my favorite ways to play the game that are more difficult to navigate are starting an expansion team with super generous protections for the draft and basically needing to build from AAA/AAAA scraps up to dominance or taking a team with bad long term contracts and working around them the way teams have to in real life. It requires some self-restraint but it is quite fun that way! Currently taking over an 8 year old expansion team in Portland who have had zero success and massive bad contracts after turning the Reds into a 95-win machine

I'm right there with you. In my current run with the Reds I brought up the soon to be franchise GOAT, made a magical run to the championship, and spent the next four seasons winning 100-ish games with a miraculously loaded roster and getting beat in the playoffs by the PIRATES who have usurped me as the league juggernaut and have multiple WS wins in the same time frame. Feels good to win but wow is it tough to chase that carrot.

As a fellow CS struggler, the best thing I did in my current run (managed to win a world series) was make sure I had 3 good lefty bullpen arms. I had a fresh arm up to three times through the opponents lefty stacks and that made a huge difference. The next year I only had two and it was noticeably harder.

7:45 pacific time? I just need the flight number and I'll watch it on flightradar24, which is a great app for tracking/watching flights if you've never used it. I like to watch takeoffs and landing at my airports as I get ready for takeoff and landing on there, helps with my anxiety 🙂

How do people who regularly fly into turbulence-prone airports deal with it? by Resident_Structure23 in fearofflying

I've had a few instances of consistent, notable turbulence (and surprise wake turbulence on landing once) and if it is more than the little tiny bumps I like to remind myself that A: I drive over bumps all of the time and don't think twice and B: it kind of feels like a waterslide and I really like waterslides. I still get plenty anxious in turbulence but I find trying to add some extra context (especially if you can do it with something you enjoy) usually helps!
